Could this be herpes?

Two days are having protected sex for the 1st time my genital area became very itchy. The it became very sore and red. There were no bump just a red rash. The person I had sex with had been tested for all stds and came back negative. Every so often this rash would come back. it did not get as sore and would only hurt if I itched a lot. I think all the soreness i experienced the first time may have been from itching too. Also white chunky discharge that is yeasty smelling accompanies all this. Now today i noticed bumps around the area but they do not hurt to touch. What I am wonder is if this could be herpes and if not, what could it be?

thank you for your time.

Possibly, but it sounds more like a yeast infection or thrush to me. You don't have to have all of the classic symptoms of an out break to have herpes. But usually odor or discharge is not associated with herpes, herpes blisters or sores usually hurt when you touch them. Some people have out breaks with out getting big bumps or sores.

You should know herpes is not usually included in the routine std testing. So if he was only tested for stds he may not have been tested for herpes.

If you really want to know then you should have a doctor or gyno test you for herpes and stds.
