As a web designer, how do i go about setting up hosting for my clients?
I know all about setting up a website hosting, but im a little confused. Do i set it up with my credit card and have it in my name or what? I would think that it should be in the customers name, but how do i do this if i dont have their credit card? Or do most companies that offer site design as well as hosting, just collect payments from the customer to pay for the hosting? If i do it that way, the site will always be in my name. Im just wondering how other webs design companies handle this. I know that some require the customer to set up the hosting themselves, but i was hoping to include the first year of web hosting for all sites that i build. Any help is appreciated.

Hi :-)
Two options in my opinion:
1. Ask your clients to set up their account and assist if necessary - that way the domain & hosting is not on your name or your responsibility. But you're losing money that way, an actual monthly pay - look at the 2nd option.
2. The proffered option:
You buy the hosting yourself, and for every 3$ you pay the hosting, you charge 6$ (or more) from the customer. The extra 3$ or more is for the support you'll give to the customer regarding the matter, but don't worry - most customers need no support after the first month or two.
you can turn to a hosting company & ask to be an affiliate - that way you'll get better prices and can earn a bit more.
This way is better for two reasons: you keep the customer contacts for future projects (they will turn to you for they'll know & trust you), and you earn a monthly pay that can add up as you add more customers. Like a small hosting company :-)
Good luck!

Register the domain and host with the client no you shouldn't own any of that its for the client to have you just are supplying web design services. The idea is that you can be a host reseller and sell them to a certain host and make commission and then supply their web design only if you find the host very good and trusting.

I would recommend going for a reseller hosting plan. You would basically setup your own web hosting plans. That way you can offer your customers web hosting services. They would get their own web hosting control panel to manage their accounts.
Something like the following website.

If you want to host your clients web sites then you can host their web sites in your web hosting account.
Check http://neond.com/
You can host multiple web sites with enterprise package and host all your clients web sites with your NeonD hosting account. However, you will have to register the domain names of your clients in their name by using your credit card/paypal.
