Ok so this problem is weird. I have windows xp sp3 that is updates regularly but lately it has developed a problem where after using if for a little while, say an hour or more, all the text starts to disappear. It disappears off of firefox, off the desktop, off the start menu and task bar - everywhere! I get a couple of pop up error boxes but you cant read the text in any of them. So all i can do is restart and then it is fine again for another couple of hours. So whats going on with this.

..Almost makes me wonder if microsoft is screwing with my operating system to make me want to upgrade, lol...

Do speaker manufacturers take into account the volume of space the rear of the subwoofer (the frame, magnet, etc) takes up? Im trying to design a box for two 12" rockford fosgates and the interior volume is supposed to be 1.23 ft^3. Im wondering if i need to make a box with an interior volume larger than 1.25 to accommodate for the space the speaker takes up. Or is this is already figured into the value provided? Just a bit confused...

Hey everyone, im looking for some speaker suggestions. My problem is that i used to be into car audio back in the 90s but since i havent kept up with it much and a lot has changed.

Im wondering which brands still make good quality speakers. Back in the day, it used to be Rockford Fosgate, JL, Pioneer, etc. Now i know JL is still pretty good but the quality of Fosgate and Pioneer have gone way down. Right now, Im just looking for a good set of 6x9" and 6.5" speakers that can put out a decent amount of clean bass. Im not looking to spend a fortune, but i dont want to spend too little and get speakers that disappoint either. Im looking for all the interior speakers to be from the same manufacturer.

So which manufacturers make good 6x9s with good bass? I have read online that these brands are generally really good or produce good bass: JBL, SoundStream, Focal, Kicker.

I went to best buy because their website said they sold JBL and i wanted to see if the bass was as good as i have heard. When i go there they didnt have any JBL speakers for sale. After listening to a few of the other brands: Sony, Kenwood, Polk. Infinity, Kicker, Alpine, the Infinity seem the best. By far the loudest and clearest. Model 9632CF for the 6x9 and model 6032CF for the 6.5 inch that matched them sounded good also. I was going to go ahead and buy them but the 6x9s were sold out so i held off on it.

In my car, the previous owner installed some infinity 6x9s model 9603i. They have been in my car the whole time i have owned it (10+ years) and yet they never seemed all that impressive - bass wise. After i went to best buy i took a look at them and realized that the infinity 6x9 that i have in my car are nearly the same as the ones i was going to buy, they are just 10 years older and a different model number. If you look at the specs of the ones i have in my car and the ones i liked at best buy, they are nearly identical it seems.

So how did the ones at best buy sound so much better? Does it come down to the fact that the ones at best buy were running off an amp and im running mine off the factory deck? Just wondering if the speaker technology has changed that much in the ten years since i got this car, or if i just really need to give these speakers some power to make them sing.

Either way, i would still like to know which brands you have personally heard making good bass. Im just talking about interior speakers here, not subwoofers.

Im looking at buying a large capacity (1TB, 2TB or 3TB) external usb hard drive and i was just wondering which brand people thought was best. I know that these two brands are pretty much the most popular or regarded as the best, so which one do you like?

Im just curious to know how these guarantees work. Which stores offer this? Walmart? Target? And how does it work exactly? What do you bring in to show the price is lower somewhere else? Like a printout from a website or something? Do they call the place right then and there to verify the price or what? Im just curious because i found something on a website thats cheap and im wondering if i can just get it at a local store that offers the price match guarantee. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

I just moved into a house and my roommate has direct tv and i was wondering if i could buy a receiver box used off of craigslist or somewhere instead of renting the receiver from direct tv. Could i activate a used receiver and if so do they charge a fee for this? Any help is appreciated thanks.

Im looking to get a new external ip address. I have verizon fios intenet. The router is the standard one that verizon gives out (Actiontec MI-424-WRv2). So far i have read that turning the router off could give you a new ip. I turned it off for about 45 minutes and when i turned it back on i had the same ip. I also read that you can refresh your DHCP settings and that might give you a new ip, but i cant figure out how to do this with this router. Any ideas?

Im am interested in buying the motherboard from a server (Asus K8N-DRE) and using it as my normal desktop computer. The main reason for this is because i found it for really cheap (about $25) and it seems like it would be a powerhouse with 2 processors and up to 16Gb of RAM. But can these be used like a regular PC or are there some limitations to what i will be able to do. I would want to run windows xp pro on it as well. Any thoughts on this?

I am currently uploading a php site to my webhost (000webhost.com) and it seems like it is going to take hours and hours. The total size of the files is around 15mb total. Why is this? If i were to just transfer another file like a .zip or something, it would be done in like a minute or two. I am using the staff ftp software, is there some sort of options i can check or uncheck to speed up this process?

I just bought some new glasses and i can see clearly through them, but when i move my head it seems like there is some distortion. For instance, if im staring at a particular object and i move my head from side to side, it appears as if the item is moving slightly. My last pair of glasses i had for over 10 years. This is my first day wearing my new ones. Is this just something normal that my eyes will eventually adjust to, or what?

OK, so ive been reading about caps and crowns which are apparently the same thing, but then when i was reading about how they are made and applied, it doesnt sound anything like what i have.

You see, when i was younger (in 5th grade), i chipped about 75% off of my front tooth. The nerve was hanging out and everything, hurt like hell to even breathe. So when i went to get it fixed, the dentist applied a some sort of white "goop" and then he shaped it into a tooth shape. He then used a red light to harden the "goop".

Now from what i read, when you get a cap or crown, you go in and they measure where its gonna go, then you leave and they have it made somewhere and then you come back when its ready and they install it. Now that doesn't sound like what i had done to me. When i went in, it was finished in one visit. So do i have a cap or crown or something different?

I ask because a piece of it broke off and now i need to see about getting it fixed. Now i don't have any dental insurance so I'm trying to find the cheapest fix possible, like at a dental school or something, but i need to know if this is a cap/crown before i can look for prices about getting it fixed.

Im just wondering if there were any major changes between the years that would prevent me from using the 03 manual, or are they pretty much the same?

I got my eye exam and i told the eye doctor that i was going to buy my glasses online, he suggested a site that i found has great prices (zennioptical.com). So i go to the site and when i go to put in my prescription, The options available arent exactly what i have written on my prescription. I dont want to order glasses that dont work. I also discovered that their are different ways to write out a prescription. So i need some clarity. Thie is exactly what i have written on my prescription:

OD Sph -325 Cyl -50 Axis 072

OS Spy -325 Cyl -50 Axis 073

Now when i go to select and option like Sph on the site, ther is no -325, the closest is -3.25 is this the same? For cyl there was no -50 option the closest is -0.50. And the most confusing one is the axis, there is no option for 072 or 073, the numbers go from 0 to 180. So is 072 the same as 72?

They sent a letter saying stuff about this, but i cant find it. I know that in november the state issued benefits early so that people could get food for thanksgiving. I also remember the letter saying this would also happen in december. When is this supposed to happen?

I know all about setting up a website hosting, but im a little confused. Do i set it up with my credit card and have it in my name or what? I would think that it should be in the customers name, but how do i do this if i dont have their credit card? Or do most companies that offer site design as well as hosting, just collect payments from the customer to pay for the hosting? If i do it that way, the site will always be in my name. Im just wondering how other webs design companies handle this. I know that some require the customer to set up the hosting themselves, but i was hoping to include the first year of web hosting for all sites that i build. Any help is appreciated.

Generally speaking how much would the cheapest machine cost that could bend something like a 3" or 4" pipe/tube. I have seen units as low as $250 that can bend up 2.5" pipe manually. I have also seen units that can bend 12" pipe and they can cost like 10 grand. I need to bend 3" - 4" steel and/or aluminum tubes.They will be pretty much as thin walled as i can find them. I will be using these tube for air intakes for cars, i just need an idea of what it might. Also i noticed that there are a variety of different types of benders, so any advice on which type would be best, would be extremely helpful, Thanks.

OK now i have been following the instructings from the following link about how to set up a server.

Everything has gone smooth up until i got to the bottom of the tutorial. It says that if your server if behind a wireless router (and it is) then you gotta forward port 80. Now im pretty sure i did that right. But now i dont know what i have to type into the address bar to access my server.

I tried the http://localhost/ address earlier in the setup and that worked fine and i could see my files. But now, what address do i give to someone to access the server from another computer?

Is it just my ip address: http://96.238.xx.xxx/

Or is it something like: http://96.238.xx.xxx/

Im pretty confused about this part cause this ip doesnt point to the actual computer, just my home network. The computer is something like 192.168.*.*

Is the port forwarding supposed to take care of directing the incomming requests to the correct computer?

Hi, im looking for this older software for the Lego RCX unit. I lost the original cd and i want to program it, with something simple.

The original software that came with it was called "RCX Code". There is also a program called "Actor-Lab".

Im wondering if anyone know of a link where i can download this either of these. They are both kind of old and i havent been able to find em, but maybe someone know of like a rapidshare link or something.

There are actually 2 different shows with this same name. The most popular one is with chris angel and it is NOT the one im talking about. The one im talking about has been on a few different channels like court tv and each episode covers a different type of heist/robbery. So does anyone know anything about where i can watch this show (online or on tv)?
