Problem with Windows XP: Text disappears off of everything! Help!?

Ok so this problem is weird. I have windows xp sp3 that is updates regularly but lately it has developed a problem where after using if for a little while, say an hour or more, all the text starts to disappear. It disappears off of firefox, off the desktop, off the start menu and task bar - everywhere! I get a couple of pop up error boxes but you cant read the text in any of them. So all i can do is restart and then it is fine again for another couple of hours. So whats going on with this.

..Almost makes me wonder if microsoft is screwing with my operating system to make me want to upgrade, lol...

Hi. I did some research to see if others have ever experienced your problem and found the link below.

Scroll down to the last 2 entries on the page to see if either one works for you.

Prior to finding that information, my first thoughts were either not enough RAM or a possible problem with sp3. So if the information I found for you does not help, the 2 things I just mentioned might be worth looking into also.

    Hope this helped!

this doesn't really answer you're problem as i'm not an IT expert... but your operating system isn't gonna last that long without fixes so long as you have someone do them that knows what they're doing (like using a repair disk maybe) from time to time windows does have a tendency to have faults after soo many boot-ups in its computing life-span. Also it is possible to update the operating system without loosing all your stuff if that's what you're worried about & why you're still on XP, (but i'll leave the detailed answer about that to another time)
