square root ( x ) is that same thing as taking x^ (1/2)
so sq root 1/2 is sqroot(1) / sqroot(2)
and root of 1 is just 1 therefore 1 / root(2)

No,it is not equal to under root 2.
Under root 2 is (2)^1/2.
While, (1/2)^1/2 is (1)^(1/2) divided by (2)^(1/2) ...{by (a/b) ^ m =(a) ^ m / (b) ^ m }
which is equal to 1 divided by under root 2 ...{since 1 to the power anything is 1}

(1/2)^1/2
=(1^1/2 )/(2^1/2 )
=1/ √2
Rationalize the demominator,
=(1/ √2) * (√2 /√2 )
=√2 /2
anything to the exponent of 1/2 means square root, similarily, 1/3 is cube root, etc

(1/2)^(1/2) is square root of 1/2. Take square on Numerator and Denominator. Square root of Numerator is 1 and square root of denominator is Root2. The final answer is 1 over root2

x^(1/n) = n root(x)
(1/2)^(1/2)
squareroot(1/2) = 1 / squareroot(2) = sqrt(2) / 2

The word "SOLVE" applies to equations and equations require an = sign.
What we have here is an expression to be evaluated.
