Fellow Americans:when will you get off from your high horses,& admit we 'need the world' but they dont need us?

Even when most of Europe is against our invasions, we are the only ones with any 'morality'. Like, we want to be doing 'good' to the world because we're so pious. Save it. My fellow Americans need to cut the act, and stop being so righteous. The rest of the world doesn't want us invading their countries, and have been saying they don't need us. On the other hand, we want to keep 'helping them' because we are so righteous. Sickening. Can't believe my fellow Americans are so thick.

It's not about morality, its not about terrorism, its about becoming a regional leader. The war on Iraq, and the one in Pakistan has nothing to do with 9/11. The leaders of the Middle East are already puppets to us, so we don't need to invade them. Countries like Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran however were different. They retaliated. Iran for gas pipelines, Afghanistan for minerals and poppies, Iraq and Pakistan for oil: we are terribly short of energy resources in our country, so we are looking for alternative ones. We also love waging wars because we are heavily dependent on our military industry to prosper to keep our economy afloat: we need to keep selling weapons.

Let's face it - we've overthrown democratic governments (which is what we supposedly invade countries and conquer them for - to liberate them and give them the gift of democracy) for our own personal agenda to install puppet governments loyal to us so we can use them and their natural resources to our advantage. It's disgusting. We do not practice what we preach, and it shames me as an American. I am embarrassed for our foreign policy in the past. We have CIA operatives inciting civil unrest in countries that are perfectly happy and have governments the people thee are happy with just to further our interests, control, and exploitation of said countries. We preach that we stand for freedom and democracy, and I am proud of that, but our actions make us liars and hypocrites and it saddens me. We should be the greatest country in the world and we still can be if we do the right thing....someday. I feel if the average citizen knew all of the dirty, underhanded things our elected government did and still does, we would all be as outraged as I am.

America is probably the greatest country in the world, comparatively, but we can still be better. There's always room from improvement, even when you're on the top. When you're on top, I believe you have a responsibility to treat every country like we would like to be treated, even if they don't treat us as well as they should. We should be setting the examples! We do many, many wonderful things, enough that it probably offsets the underhanded sneaky crap we do, but it still doesn't excuse it because this is AMERICA and we should be setting the bar ever higher. I'm still proud I'm an American, I'm just ashamed of some of the things we do sometimes. I see a brighter future ahead though. Most of the most immoral things we did as far as foreign policy occurred in the 70s and 80s and I'm glad we're progressively improving our respectability on the world stage. But a lot of the things I learned in my political science classes in college were downright scary.

    J. Edgar Hoover was an evil, evil man, but I suppose when you compare him to Stalin and Hitler he looks like an angel. I guess what I'm trying to say is I expect more from our country because damnit, this is AMERICA, the greatest country on earth! We need to act like it and not just say it!

I guess the rest of the world does not need the money we give them in humanitarian aid or the wheat which feeds millions in Russia and the former USSR. Nor do they need the rice and medical supplies we ship to Africa and Asia. Be a lot of sad people without US aid. I am curious if you have ever been out of the US? Ought to take a trip to Africa and see for yourself. As the US goes so does the world. It is almost inconceivable the amount of aid the US gives to the rest of the world. Europe talks a lot but acts very little and considering that the US has provided for their defense fo sixty years this is almost criminal. Europe thinks only of themselves and complains when the US acts, hypocrisy at it's finest.

Sure the rest of the world doesn't want us invading their countries, but apparently them attacking us and our allies is perfectly OK, is that about right?, were you visiting another planet on 9-11?, or the attacks that happened in London and Madrid and other places in Europe or all the attacks that were stopped before they were able to be carried out, many of which I believe we still haven't heard about, those are just ginger peachy right?. It never ceases to amaze me how myopic and naive some peoples thinking is.

When will you realize that by trying to appease to everyone elses ideas and realize that putting down your own country will gain you the respect of neither those countries you wish to adhere to nor the one that your in. We are the best nation on Earth, and you want to know why? Because we have always believed that we were, and with hard work and that belief we became the best.

Its not wrong to call your self the best if you are, and people will always resent what they cant hope to achieve

Why cant you be more European....ha what a joke.

    Tough times instill work ethic.

We don't *need* anyone. We have all the wealth and natural resources in this country to last us forever.

We have no reason to sign our country away just so we can enjoy an unnecessarily lavish lifestyle in the short term.
