If you are alreay in a turn lane waiting for the light with the turn arrow?

Do you still have to put on your turn signal?

Is it mandatory?

No one else can go except the ones that are in the turn lane.

Even though it seems like common sense, yes it's still mandatory... While the person behind you will know that you're going to turn b/c you're in a turning lane, it's still important to alert the people coming in the opposite direction of traffic of your turning intentions... They will not be able to determine while driving that you're in a turning lane... But if you have your signal on then they can make that deduction...

In an accident though, it can only be proved that you didn't have a signal on if there were credible witnesses not involved in the crash, otherwise it's your word vs theirs and without proof the judge will use other factors to determine the winner...
