The human nervous system is powered by the electrochemical reaction of sodium & potassium, a polarity of battery elements if you will, I think the speed is slower than electricity probably due to the fact that organic nerves are not the best electrical conductors, but I think I read somewhere that the speed of transmission from nerve A in brain---> to nerve receptor anywhere in the body is about 275 feet per second.

So if you had arms 273.5 feet long, it would take a second before you could tell your hand to stop waving at the people sitting at the top of a 276 foot high building, (through a window of course!)
