Im not sure if this is Croup or not?
My son is 16 months.. And hasn't been sleeping at all the past month, However I believe that this is due to a change in schedule since it is almost Christmas time we've been very busy, also his back teeth are coming in.
However, this past week it's been more like NOT sleeeping at all. Which is frustrating and taking it's toll on both my husband and myself.. He just sleeps for an hour and wakes up screaming and crying or just panics whenever I try to lay him down for sleep.. When he gets upset and starts crying he makes like the barking/seal noises I have read up on Croup.. Can people sharre their personal experiences with their children and croup just because he isn't sleeping at all I've tried the bringing him outside and I've tried the steam and humidifier in his room.. I brought him to the dr's and all they said was to let it run it's course? I'm not sure what to do and the lack of sleep for all of us is making it even more stressful? Any suggestions?
Also he doesnt cough a lot.. He is mostly sneezing.. but at night when he gets upset and cries about going to sleep is when he coughs/with the bark/seal type noise?

The barking seal type cough is most likely croup. My 3yr old daughter has had croup and her pedtrcn. also told us to let it run its course. But she did suggest that we let our daughter sit in the bathroom while the shower is going full blast on hot so that steam can fill up. We did this a few times a day for about 4 days. It really seemed to help. Croup doesn't last long, maybe about7-8 days or so. Just keep him as comfortable as possible, Tylenol for his little teeth. May wanna keep him up during the day as much as possible too, this may help him sleep better at night. Hope this helps, hang in there and get a nap in whenever possible:-)

Definately sounds like croup so go back todoctor and get it checked out. Sometimes asthma can sound a bit like that too. My daughter has suffered severley from both and we had her in emergency on many occasions. Don't let it go cause they both can be dangerous. Change doctors if you have to. I went to 4 doctors and it was the 4th that fixed the problem and got her the correct medication and she was fixed within 1 - 2 weeks. Humidifiers didn't work for my daughter either. Go with you gut instinct. If the problem continues keep pushing for answers. Goodluck, I know it is exhausting but hopefully you'll get some answers soon.
