My car keeps leaking power steering fluid. Then the wheel gets stuck or hard to turn. In order to use my car I have to fill it up with a whole bottle of steering fluid EVERYDAY. My car is oldsmobile alero 1999. Did any of you have this problem before?

You will need to replace the bad power steering hose that's leaking fluidout of it . Not hard to do .

You could drive it "forever", however the longer you drive it, the more you risk causing further damage to the car. The fluid in the power steering doesn't just make it easier to turn the wheel, it also lubricates the power steering pump and the rack and pinion, and the steering gear box. If you run out of fluid the pump could seize up causing engine damage, not to mention a power steering pump replacement is an expensive job. Likewise with the rack and pinion and gearbox. If you cannot locate the leak, your best bet would be to take it to a reputable auto repair shop to have it repaired. Also leaking fluid is hazardous to the environment and water supply and also costs will add up buying fluid all the time.

Im having the EXACT same problem..thats weird..it sucks too cause you spend way more on power steering daily than on gas monthly :(

i have a oldsmobile too but so far i had,nt had any trouble like that, knock on wood. sounds like you have a hose leaking, probably the pressure hose. that,s usually the hose that starts leaking or it,s possible the the seal is broke on the pump but check the hoses first.

yes ive had this problem brought to me many time in my 39 years as a master me ch and ive alwas just found the problem and repaired it and darn the customer didn't have to soupier or by stock in shell oil any more and thy even saved money over time

usually it is the P/s pressure hose but I seen it in very cold weather the return line can bust too.
