what does it take to become a good writer..? please..?

I'm working on this novel about young people in love, being afraid of commitment and being hurt..

I can't ever be really satisfied, and I'm a perfectionist.

Do I have a chance to get it published, or am I wasting my time? I'm very young but writing is one of the only things I've ever felt real good at.

my friends and family are telling me to let it go.. what do YOU think..?

(The story's in english, which isn't my first language..)

I need some help, so if you have a minute, I'd like Ur opinion..

Yeah I understand where your coming from and my opinion is that you shouldn't drop it. As for the perfectionist thing, I'm like that too, it's a good thing I reckon.

If you're writing a novel though it will wreck your head so you should just write a fair amount without re-reading. Your best bet is to just keep going, if you keep correcting it you won't get far.

Write it all out and then edit the entire novel afterwards.

But don't give it up, if you're still young then you've nothing to lose.

If you truly believe you're a good writer, and you truly love writing, then don't let it go. But I haven't read your work, so I can't tell you whether it has a chance or not. It doesn't matter how old you are. For all they care, you could be five and still publish a book if it's good. (And I mean REALLY good.) Good luck, though.
