Are my teeth falling out? Thumb sucking?

Im 19 and I still suck my thumb. Its caused my teeth to push out at the front. i convince myself that they wobble and ache. i have very good oral hygiene, but i cant tell whether they feel weak or whether im just telling myself they feel weak. im always paranoid that they're falling out when im awake and when im asleep.

i always dream that im paranoid about a certain tooth just like i do when im awake and il fidgit with it but really carefully just like i do when im awake, but then i'll nudge it too hard or something and it'll fall out and i'll be like 0.0 its the end of the world.

i've had other senarios where theyll just fall out on their own or il fall and break them etc but usually it starts with me obsessing over them first

also sometimes the teeth vary, if its just a single tooth falling out it'll be seen as an important one, like the front. sometimes its a few teeth or like a few will fall out then a minute later a few more and so on... ive had dreams where every tooth falls out, and now last night my whole upper set of teeth dropped out connected to the gums like false teeth, they stayed connected by my very back molars. i remember freaking out and being in pain. when other people are in the dream with me at the time.. they always seem really chilled out and just say something like =) its ok forget about it.. but i'll be like OMG!!! AHHH >.<

i had braces wen i was 13 for about 6 months but stopped wearing them because they were uncomfortable and cut my mouth open.

i plan to get them again soon and also plan to stop sucking my thumb. im trying to stop now but its something il have to work on.

im really insecure about my teeth even though people tend 'to not notice' but im just as insecure about other parts of me, so im not sure why my teeth are so significant in dreams?..

its said that dreams have meanings. so, is this related to anything? or am i just too aware that sucking my thumb is bad for my teeth.

i seem to have it in my head that when their straightened the worry will go away?

is it possible that my teeth actually ARE going to fall out through thumb sucking?

also, does anybody have an idea of cost for a set of adult braces in the UK?

thankyouu

I sucked my thumb too until I was 13 and it's a really bad habit. My maxillary is pushed in the front and I use a retainer. But I don't think that is your problem. I guess you need actual braces that will push your front teeth back.

The costs? It shouldn't be expensive, but you should go and ask and have a dentist look at your mouth :)

You can always perform surgery but I think its damaging...I don't know. Go to your dentist and find out more from a specialist :)

    Teeth After Sucking Thumb

I can help you with the teeth thing but I have no idea about the braces. My 13 year old son still sucks his thumb and his teeth are pushed out, but your teeth will not fall out. and there not week. Its just all in your head. Your just to aware that sucking your thumb is bad. Your really should stop. Or your teeth will get pushed out even farther.

I've always heard and read that dreaming that your teeth are falling out comes from saying things that you shouldn't have said. I'm not sure that's true in your case though. You can PLAN to do something for a really long time without ever doing it! Now quit sucking your thumb!

Hi, im 10 and im lucky because im getting my functional braces so early. I have sucked my thumb almost all my life aswell and my teeth are promenent (forward). Also, sucking your thumb is not the only way your teeth get promenent. It can also pass through family. My aunty had promenent teeth and she got braces and now my little cousin Niamh (Age 3) is getting promenent teeth and she hasent been sucking her thum or dummy her whole life! I recon u should get them. In Northern Ireland, there free so im lucky 2 get my braces 4 free! The pain (I think) is regular because my teeth are sore and it's not even the 7th January (The day i get my functional/clip in braces)! I'm sure when you get your braces your teeth will be sparkling clean and straight! I don't know how much they will cost in the UK and it is true that when they are straightened, the pain will go away! BTW: You shouldn't of got your braces out. Im sure you regret it!

They won't fall out, it won't reach that extent. But it can make your gums quite sensitive. Try to stop sucking on your thumb permenantly before you pay an expensive amount to fix your teeth with braces. You could try chewing on gum when you get the craving of sucking your thumb.

Im 16 I stop sucking my thumb when I was 13, my teeth werenot odd, but any who, I would stop sucking thumb if I were you cause this would keep on happening and what happens if you get married, your husband would think your weird and still a baby. And well any who this would keep on happening if you keep your thumb on your mouth.

if you think that your teeth are falling out cuz you suck your thumb then ur in luck. thats impossible. your brain is prollyy just realizing that thats a bad habit since your getting older and its trying to tell you to stop sucking your thumb. its nothing to be concerned about so long as you stop sucking your thumb.

what helps me stop biting my nails is having gum with me at all times, whenever you catch yourself sucking your thumb just pop a gum in your mouth. your fav flavor and munch away. itll keep your mind off of it and if you need just chew gum 24/7.

    it helps.

Source(s): good luck and just for some inspiration, i think it would be very unapealing to see a 19 yr old sucking her thumb. not to make you feel bad but to help you quit it. best of reguards
