broadhead selection for hunting whitetailed deer?
I shoot a 45-lb recurve bow. I have never gone hunting before and was debating between the mechanical broadheads ( trophy ridge ) or fixed blade broadheads, with three blades. I was nearly made up about the mechanicals, but i read something that said to use a higher pull bow if mechanical broadheads will be used. Which are more appropriate?

I would stay way from mechanical blades if your bow has only a 45 pound pull. I would go with solid steel constructionn fixed bladebroad headss. They might be plain but their are razor sharp and get the job done. My bow has a 65 pound pull and i stay away from mechanical blades because I shot 3 deer with mechanicals and none were pass throughs. I only recover 2 and they were good lung shot and the deer ran for 200+ yards with a bad blood trail. I switched to fixed blades and have not lost a deer since

Mechanicals will work just fine with your bow. I have used mechanicals for almost 8 years now and have never had a problem with the 15 some deer I have harvested. I have recently gotten into the RAGE line (3 blade) and they create the largest wound channel upon impact that I have ever seen. They, in my honest opinion, are the pinnacle of mechanicals on the market today.

Im going to guess that the release of an arrow with a bow that has more lbs helps release the mechanical blades? I use fixed blade just because....no particular reason. Good luck

large question! From experience i think of the appropriate broadheads for you're the two a mechanical or mounted blade. With mounted blades you additionally can hunt deer. For turkey looking i exploit the Magnus Bullhead 3 Blade for head photos and X-Act one hundred-grain Mechanical Broadhead for the two deer and turkey looking. make constructive shooting with mechanical broadheads are allowed in yout section as they do no longer look to be accredited in many places.

Rage broad heads have one for bows as low as 40 lbs. The rage broad heads are the only brand that come with guarantee to put the animal down.
