I have a dog (7 years old) and cat (1 year old) and just brought a new kitten into the house (2 days ago)....?
My dog is fine with the kitten as is the kitten with the dog. The problem is my older cat seems scared of the new kitten without wanting to attack or hurt it. She hisses a little but mostly just wants to run away. How long will my older cat be upset about it?
Actually the kitten is fine, not scared at all and there is no fighting. I just don't want my older cat to be frightfull for the rest of her life.

I had the same exact problem with my cat exact age and everything and I also had a dog haha how weird but anyways yeah the dog took to her easily…im sure the kitten is more scared then your one yr old kitty ..(: give them time my cats are just not finally getting along they use the same litter box and everything [: even though one stays upstairs and one stays down stairs..they always come to each other and sleep and play sometimes..it takes time.dont put them face to face or anything if they start fighting its fine its nothing major I hope..because their cats and the kitten will most likely run from the older cat. Shes hissing because shes new and you know she was the only cat and now theres another one (: so yeaah it takes time ..i wish u luck

Unfortunately that's the way cats are. Some older cats make friends with the new kitten after a few weeks, months or even a few years. It depends on the cat. Your older cat may never completely like the new one, but eventually she will get to the point where she doesn't run away all the time.
Sorry, I know that wasn't too helpful, haha. Every case is different.

It's fine. You might want to seperate them and introduce them at small amounts of time. After a couple days you're older cat should be used to her. This is the easiest way I've learned to introduce cats to one another. Also, don't leave them alone together because she would hurt the kitten. Also, if you're cat hasn't been around other cats it may take her longer than a couple of days. Hope this helps.

It's a territory thing, since the kitten is young and small the older cat isn't going to attack it and they should be good friends in a week or two.

rub a wash cloth on the new cat, and giv ethe wash cloth to the cat you already had without bringing the new cat anywhere near the other one. that will give the old cat some time to get comfortable with the new cats scent, which will make him more relaxed around it instead of tense
