Suggestions for destinations and activities in January in France?
I am looking for recommendations of places to visit in France in January. I don't want to go to Paris or to go ski-ing. I am concerned that things might be closed as it is winter. Is Bordeaux a good place in January, are the vineyards etc open for tastings?

Yes, Bordeaux is a good place to go to in January and it has a great deal of culture to keep you interested and occupied, many places to visit, plus some excellent restaurants. In France most state owned monuments and attractions are open all year round, as indeed local museums and art galleries. The "caves" are open for tastings too, but all domains are not necessarily so, as the vines are dormant at that time of the year.
