Slow cooker/crock pot simple apple chutney recipe?

Hiya,

I have 6-8 eating apples that I want to do something with before Xmas because I won't eat that many! I've been searching for a simple crock pot/slow cooker recipe for apple chutney but can I find one that doesn't need masses of ingredients or uses a crock pot? No!

So....I am appealing to all you recipe geniuses. I would just chuck a load of things in the pot but I am taking it to family and I don't want it to be too inedible!!!

I would ideally need something Preferably low sugar that can go in to jars immediately.

Here's what I have and could use....red onions, lemon, limes, 6-8 apples, ground coriander, ground cumin, ground ginger, white pickling vinegar, chilli flakes....

Any ideas?

Thanks :-)

    2 onions

8 apples (assuming onions & apples are the same size)

sugar equal in weight to one and a half onions.

    zest of lemon & limes

    juice of lemon & limes

    1tsp coriander

    2 tsp ginger

    vinegar

    chop up onions & apples

    put into slow cooker

chuck everything else (EXCEPT VINEGAR) into slow cooker - & stir

pour enough vinegar in to nearly cover mixture.

Put on low to medium heat for 3 hours.

(my slow cooker only has 2 heat settings & a 'keep warm' setting so I would put mine on the low heat setting)

Check after 3 hours for texture - some people like it more pureed than chunky.

Give it another half hour if you think you'd like it done a bit more.

Sorry about the sugar - you could probably risk cutting down on the quantity - but it's one that works for me.

Lil' smokies: One pkg. of lil' smokies weiners 1/4 c. grape jelly 1 c. BBQ sauce Mix ingredients and cook in crock pot until warm. This recipe is very subjective. It's great for 4th of July picnics!
