  • Anyone else dreading work after the festive season?

Don't get me wrong - this time last year I was unemployed so I know how lucky I am, but after the big break of Christmas and New Year is anyone else not looking forward to the alarm clock sounding tomorrow?

Good luck with the first day back everyone and thanks for your answers!

  • Slow cooker/crock pot simple apple chutney recipe?

    Hiya,

I have 6-8 eating apples that I want to do something with before Xmas because I won't eat that many! I've been searching for a simple crock pot/slow cooker recipe for apple chutney but can I find one that doesn't need masses of ingredients or uses a crock pot? No!

So....I am appealing to all you recipe geniuses. I would just chuck a load of things in the pot but I am taking it to family and I don't want it to be too inedible!!!

I would ideally need something Preferably low sugar that can go in to jars immediately.

Here's what I have and could use....red onions, lemon, limes, 6-8 apples, ground coriander, ground cumin, ground ginger, white pickling vinegar, chilli flakes....

    Any ideas?

    Thanks :-)

  • Halloween trick or treats?

    Hiya all,

I'm in the UK and although we don't go for Halloween as much as our friends across the pond, we do get trick or treaters.

What does everyone else do when they get a knock on the door? Do you give treats out? What's the best treat to give in your opinion?

    10 points for funnies!

  • Question about car motion sickness and lighting conducting.....?

    Hiya,

My boyfriend thinks that the metal roads that hung from cars and dragged on the road in the 80s/90s in the UK were lightening conductors. I thought that they were motion sickness grounding devices.

Who is correct or are we both right? I have searched on the internet and there isn't anything conclusive apart from a forum that confirmed I was correct....

Thanks to everyone for answering :-)

  • Impressive 3 course meal ideas, wheat free/dairy free?

Hiya, My sister is cooking a 3 course meal for 8 adults. She has the main course sorted with duck legs & a homemade plum sauce with fresh veggies.

We need some ideas for impressive starters (preferably not a sit down one) and a nice dessert that can be chilled prior to serving. All have to be dairy free and wheat free and preferably low sugar/gi where possible.

Any ideas? Thanks so much to everyone that answers, I know it's a big ask!!!!

  • What, in your opinion, is the best smell you have ever smelt?

I love the smell of mown grass, petrol, Mum's cooking, favourite perfumes and things like that but I really love the smell of freshly washed sheets. How about you?

  • DWP pre-employment check question.....?

How long (average) do the pre-employment checks take that the DWP carry out?

If, for instance, a previous employer stalled with replying, would that ruin an application?

Serious answers only and thanks to anyone that replies.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy balloon arch strip?

    Hiya,

I am looking for balloon arch strip so I can attempt to make a balloon arch for a family party that's fast approaching.

    Here is what it is:

    http://www.balloons-galore.net/pd_balloon_decorati...

It sells in the US but I can't seem to find any in the UK. There are US suppliers that will sell it to the UK but I'm running out of time and would prefer to get it from a UK supplier because of the time...

Hope someone can help me, thanks in advance for any serious and helpful replies!
