2000 Dodge Neon Brake Rotors?
Does anyone know how thick a new brake rotor is for a 2000 dodge neon? I typically install Wagner rotors if that makes a difference.
I'd just like to see how far worn down my current ones are from a new one to see if its worth machining them or just replacing them all together.
Thanks,
Jim

All rotors have cast in their sides someplace that gives the minimum thickness of the rotor after machining. Manufacturers can make them any thickness but usually thick enough for one turning during a brake job if the pads haven't worn down the the metal. One site I visited said theirs are 1.04 in thick before machining.
Be careful of unscrupulous brake shops. They make more money by selling you new rotors than by turning your otherwise good originals.

i just replaced a power steering pump on my car it cost me 400(labor included cause my car is almost new and the dealership has special tool to remover pulley on the pump and wouldnt sell just that to me) so only 200 for just part, and brakes and rotors will be around the same even less if they can just turn them. so you will most likey be putting another 600 to 800 i would do an oil change and look at putting in a fuel cleaner cause you dont know how he has kept the car. but 500 dollars for a running car is a great deal yes.

the minimal thickness of a rotor should be stamped on the rotor near the Centre and you will need a micrometre to measure the thickness
and wagner products are pretty much up to factory standard

I dont know off the top of my head, but it should be printed on the backside of the rotor. sometimes only in millimeters. It may be hard to read if rusted bad.

don't know how thick they are suppose to be but you are much better off to replace them than to machine them as there is not a massive price difference.
