  • Looking to get some rust repair advice.?

I have a couple of rust spots on my driver side door that appeared following this past winter. I'm going to be repairing them on an upcoming weekend and was looking for some tips and advice. Here's some pictures of the door:

    http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/2252/1000092ad.jp...

    http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/62/1000093r.jpg

    http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7518/1000094ru.jp...

My plan is to grind / sand away at the rust until i get to clean metal, or if its rusted all the way through i'm cutting it out and welding a piece of 20 gauge sheet metal in. And use some bondo to fill in the low spots, prime and paint.

I'm really looking for some advice when it comes to painting, I don't want to see any kind of noticeable areas where you can tell new paint was applied. What do you guys think about sanding the entire door to scuff it up and put a fresh coat of paint on the entire door?

Another option I'm considering is to rent a sand blaster and sand blast the entire door and then do my rust repairs prime and paint the whole thing. I'd really like to avoid sandblasting if I can get away with just scuffing up the paint and putting a new coat on the door.

    Thanks!

  • Neighbor keeps parking too close!!?

Ok, this is a little juvenile but it's actually happening. Since my neighbor (a section 8 renter) moved in about 5 years ago he's always parked fairly close to the back bumper of my vehicle. Now it's gotten worse, I just went out and measured it to be 2.25 inches. I can't even get in my trunk, I'm not pinned in cause I always give myself some room in the front but it's just a little annonying, you know?

Typically he's a pretty nice guy, except for when it comes to parking...he thinks he owns the whole street!! and he's the newest one on it :-) I've even seen other people park where he typically does and he'll go and yell and scream at them "get the f**k outta my spot"

I know it's even worse when I'm not home and he'll basically close up the spot, I known the minimum dimensions of a paking spot in Pennsylvania are 18 ft by 8 ft. I park in them everyday downtown, and what he leaves is way less, just barely big enough to fit a car in.

I've tried talking to him asking him if he could leave a little more room, he just looks at you like your speaking another language, but if you talk to him about anything else he's perfectly normal.

I'm just wondering what can I do? I'd really hate to bother the police on such a stupid issue, but it's really getting a little irritating to struggle to park my car whenever he gets home first, or to not be able to walk behind my car. I'm just looking to get a standard, average distance between parked vehicles just like everyone else does!!

Thanks for any help / advice in advance!!

  • Local Municipality Tax Filing Question?

Ok so I'm a resident in Pennsylvania, and on my pay stubs my employer withheld LST taxes for Municipality A, and Municipality B...and this is the case with everyone who works there.

I don't live in either of those so I pay quarterly payments to my Municipality. I was filing my 2010 local tax return and I wasn't sure if I count the taxes from Municipality A & B that my employer withheld as "tax withheld" or not?

Does that LST tax just go to those two municipalities even though I don't live there I only work there? or do I report that to my municipality and get back some of the quarterly payments I would have overpaid?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • Help with t-test. Accecpting or rejecting null hypothesis?

Ok so I have data from 2 samples one is a control and the other is with an added chemical. The data shows the strengths for a compound with or without this chemical added.

    Test 1 (without): 25.1, 24.4, 25.8, 25.2, 23.9, 24.7, 24.3, 26.0, 23.8, 24.6

    Test 2 (with): 25.3, 26.8, 26.5, 24.5, 27.2, 24.8, 24.1, 25.9, 25.3

    from my calculations i got:

degree of freedom = 18, pooled varience = 0.80335, standard error of difference = 0.4008

    t- value = 1.896, critical value (0.05) = 1.734

my question is do i accecpt or reject the null hypothesis. For instance do I say "since the t value is close to the critical value, adding the chemical will increase the strength"

    Thanks!

  • How to calculate the cost of bottled water on a per cubic meter basis?

I'm trying to answer this question:

Water delivered from a public supply in western Michigan costs $0.45 per cubic meter. A 0.5 L bottle of water purchased from a dispensing machine costs $1.00. What is the cost of the bottled water on a per cubic meter basis?

    The Answer is: $2000 m^(-3)

    I tried calculating by getting that one 0.5L bottle is 0.0005 cubic meters ; then taking 0.0005 * $0.45 and got $2.25 x 10^(-4)

How do i calculate it to get the correct answer of $2000 m^(-3) ?

    thanks

  • How to remove spark plug tube seals?

    I have a 2000 Dodge Neon 2.0 L engine.

I already removed the valve cover and am now trying to remove the spark plug tube seals, but the old ones are stuck on the valve cover pretty good and their also very brittle and break off in pieces very easy.

does anyone have any tips for getting the old seals out of the valve cover? Thanks.

  • How to adjust the alternator belt tension on a 2000 dodge neon?

I'm replacing the alternator belt on a 2000 dodge neon, and I'd like to know how to put the correct amount of tension on the new belt. I read the service manual for it and it says to use a special tool that measures frequency and pluck the belt a couple of times and adjust until the frequency reaches 224-252 Hz.

I obviouslly don't have anything capable of measuring frequency so I was just wondering how I can tell if the belt is tightened up properly?

    Thanks,

  • Changing Transmission Fluid...is it too long & should I replace the filter?

I have a 2000 Dodge Neon with 89k miles on it, and when I was giving it a once over the other day I noticed the trans fluid was a light brown color to it. It didn't smell burnt or anything just the color. I wiped the dipstick down with a white paper towel and took a picture of it, here's the link:

    http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1579/1000083b.j...

Now I know the fluid needs to be changed, and I'm pretty sure I'm not past the point of no return (with the old fluid being so bad it's better to just leave it alone <-- I don't think I'm at that point yet )

The car only has 89k miles on it, I got it used so I really don't know the service history, I was told when I bought it that the trans fluid was changed just before 70k miles, but I'm not really sure on that.

My question is...Should I drop the pan and put a new gasket on and change the filter? or should I just keep the filter it has and go somewhere and get the fluid changed with a fluid exchanger that doesn't involve dropping the pan?

It doesn't have any leaks right now so it really doesn't need to have the pan dropped for any other purpose than to change the filter, but this one almost falls under the "if it ain't broke, dont' fix it" category...meaning I don't want to drop the pan and replace the gasket and everything only to find that now it leaks because i didn't clean the mating surfaces right, or the pan was overtightened in the past causing it to be distorted or something.

What do you guys think....should the filter be changed or not?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • On Interstate 79, outside Pittsburgh, near neville island is the ramp to Route 65 (towards Sewickley) closed?

I got to go out to Leetsdale, PA this week and was planning on just getting onto I-79 and taking the exit for PA-65 North Towards Sewickley (just after neville island i think exit 66??) But I'm not sure if the exit ramp is closed for construction or not?

I was hoping someone out there who lives around that area or possibly drives that route to confirm if the exit ramp is closed or not.

    Thanks.

  • How to write a follow up / thank-you letter if you don't know 1 of the interviewer's last name?

I had a job interview today and was interviewed by two people. Person A gave me a business card, however person B did not. I went onto the company's website and tried to find out some information about him but was unable to do so. I thought it would be rude and somewhat inconsiderate to write a hard copy thank you note with only person A's name addressed on it.

I thought about writing an email instead just to person A (we've communicated before via email) and just do the thank-you note / followup that way.

What do you guys think about this situation?

  • How do they make brake rotors?

I was wondering how they make vented brake rotors? Are they cast that way or are they cast solid and a machine cuts into the side to put vent holes in. Or are they made out of a few different pieces and welded at some point in the process?

If someone can explain how they make them that would be great!

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs?

Did anyone hear anything about those NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs? I have a 2000 dodge neon 86k miles and was considering getting them for it. I was just wondering if they're any good, if price is any indication they're $6.99

Also does anyone have any recommendations for wires, typically i just get the cheap autolite ignition wires but i'm open to suggestions if somebody feels there are better ones out there.

    Thanks,

  • 2000 Dodge Neon Brake Rotors?

Does anyone know how thick a new brake rotor is for a 2000 dodge neon? I typically install Wagner rotors if that makes a difference.

I'd just like to see how far worn down my current ones are from a new one to see if its worth machining them or just replacing them all together.

    Thanks,
