What is static electricity?

Ok, so I was just wondering what is static electricity. Mind you, I am only 14. I guess my main question is how does it get onto things like combs, or hair, or balloons, and things like that? Is it more attracted to certain things? Stuff like that. Also, if you know how to get rid of it that would be great too!!! As simple an explaination as possible would be nice.....Please and thank you!!!

friction causes the free electrons on materials to literally "rub off" of any dielectric material. (cat fur, carpet, fuzzy sweaters, etc.)

these free electrons build up until the charge is so great that it overcomes the resistance of the air.

then an electric arc, (spark) occurs when the air is ionized and the current flows to a place where the electric potential is lower.

Static electricity is the collection of free electrons on an object. During the winter, you can collect them on your body by walking on a rug. When you touch a metal doorknob the extra electrons on your body flow into the doorknob. This is the mild shock you feel and it's called an electrostatic discharge.

Who is it that turned his back on you? Maybe the reasons are personal and not related to race.

Even if Spain conquered the Philippines for more than 300 years, I'm not seeing any hatred or any form of discrimination against hispanics here. For one, they brought Christianity (Catholicism) here. Though education is limited to some elites at that time and it was the Americans, in my opinion, who educated the Filipinos when they came.

You should visit the Philippines and see for your self how warm the treatment will be.
