Dog swallowed something- advice/experience/knowledge?
I have no idea what she swallowed- it was big enough that it got stuck in her throat. I managed to get a look at it when I was trying to get it out. All I could tell is that it was plastic, roughly the size of a half-dollar, and it had jagged edges.
She managed to swallow it before I could get it out. Now the problem I have is that her stomach can't break it down (it's pretty thick plastic from what I could tell and she probably can't throw it up again (it's too big) without choking, and it's jagged, which means that it could puncture something.
I strongly, strongly feel that she needs to go to the vet, but of course, my parents want to "wait and see what happens". Does anyone have some expereince/advice/knowledge about whether or not she'll be able to get something that large out of her system without damaging anything?

Ask your parents if they'd rather spend a couple hundred dollars on xrays and potential surgery now or a couple thousand dollars should the jagged piece of plastic puncture or tear her stomach and/or intestines.
It's always safer and smarter to be proactive. Take care of the situation now before it has a chance to get worse. At best you'll have to pay a hundred or so for xrays. If you let it get as bad as it could get you could end up paying thousands for major surgery, medicine and hospital care.

It's ALWAYS safer to go to the vet. I imagine it's uncomfortable for your dog. No need to totally freak out, but it's a really really good idea to take it to the vet.
