Does anyone know what the percentage of spaying procedures fail?

This would be a female dog getting fixed and afterwards (or in the future) getting pregnant.

Has this happened to any one else’s pet? And if so, could you tell me any symptoms or complications arisen from the pregnancy?

Any percentages or ratios that you may know of would be great if you have a link or know the information.

THANKS!

I've never heard of a procedure failing because it's not like birth control pills in humans.... entire organs are actually removed from female dogs and cats. Reproduction should be totally impossible. My friend who was a manager at a Petco for three years said that their employees would neuter and spay animals in the back rooms so obviously it doesn't really even take a very skilled person to do this. (Still, hearing stories like this are the reason I never buy animals from chain pet stores!)

If it's done correctly, it should be 0 percent, because the vet will remove the ENTIRE ovaries and uterus.
