Who is the starting goaltender for the Capitals?
I have jose theodore on my fantasy team, but he has no stats this week. I'm relatively new to hockey so i dont know if he was benched or something. Thank you
but, then why was he playing last week, on the caps website it said he played on the 18th, but that was the last time. did something happen?
it's a 16 team league, and im already starting a backup G (Annti Niemi). what should i do?
should i drop him for martin biron? (only non IR G who plays available)

Varly is the number 1 guy, but he's been hurt recently, so Theo has taken over the #1 spot. Neuvirthe is the #3 goalie, but because Theo has struggled a bit recently and Neuvirthe and Varly are the future of the team, Neuvirthe has been getting some starts lately to get him some experience
Bob: what are Caps fans not aware of? The goalie situation or the injuries? Because no one accounts for injuries in their initial line-ups, and Bruce only said that about the goalie situation once Theodore started struggling, dispite saying during the preseason that he (Thoe) was the #1 guy going into the season

The Caps don't have a starting goalie. Theodore and Varly share the job. At the beginning of the season, Theo was playing brilliantly so he was their starter. Then he had to take some time off for personal reasons (his kid died over the summer) so Varly took over. Then they shared the job again for a few games, but Varly has now been out for 3 weeks with a groin injury, so Theodore has been their starter. Neuvy was brought in from Hershey to back up Theo, and he's the reason Theodore has no stats this week. The Caps have only played one game this week, and Boudreau wanted to let Neuvy play to see how he would do. Theodore will most likely play tomorrow (12/26 vs. Devils). When Varly gets back I'm guessing he'll share the starting job with Theodore like they've been doing for most of the year. When the playoffs come around, the hotter goalie gets the job.

This season Semyon Varlamov was starting to get a handle on the starting job. But he has been out with a groin injury. Jose Theodore is the true backup goalie, but Boudreau wanted to give Michal Neuvirth some playing time before Varlamov returns.

Jose Theodore is their current starter. But after the playoff run from last year the new #1 is Varlamov. But he is injured leaving Theodore the job as of now. It seems to switch between them though so far.

The plan was to platoon Theodore and Varlamov for the first 50 games (and ride them during hot streaks) and then to get whichever ready for the playoffs with the bulk of the work the last 30 games........Bruce Boudreau has said as much......injuries have thrown it off a bit but that is the plan........odd that Cap fans aren't aware of this.

Theo hasnt been too well but he's played ok lately. They just wanted to get nuevy some starts before varly comes back which is why theo hasnt gotten any playing time the past couple games.

I remember seeing Varlamov in the AHL with Hershey. He came up and pounded us, shut us out, he had like 48 saves.

varlarmov is the predominant starter on the team. however due to injuries, Neuvirth, their 3rd goalie has been starting this week
EDIT - sounds like youre going to have to trade for a new goltender. no way youre going to find a starter in the free agency of a 16 man league. one of your top fowards is going to have to go
