My laptop's fan makes noise. Will upgrading memory (RAM) to 4GB help?
I have 1GB Memory on my laptop. I have two options.
1) Ditch this computer and get a new one
2) Upgrade the memory to 4GB.
All i want to know is that if there is any any relation between fan noise and RAM (if lower memory generates more heat etc etc).
Please let me know. Thanks

You should get a new computer... I don't think that changing the memory capacity would change its capabilities or makeup... Good luck!
(P.S. Does anyone else think that this Ixicoac person is really obnoxious to be posting these adds on a huge amount of questions??) >:-(

Ok. Increasing the RAM will possibly help as it'll make your computer run faster and easier. However I would suggest not to worry unless the fan noise causes serious problems for you. All fans make noise, because of the vibrations in the air from the fan pushing air through it you get sound, its simple physics. Unless you can find a way to alter the physics of the universe I would suggest not wasting your money and just keep the noise.
However I also do suggest you get more RAM if you only have 1GB RAM. The lowest i've used is 2GB RAM and that was far too slow for my liking. xD

No, there is no relation between RAM size and fan. This must be a problem with your fan. A minute crack on the blades or frame of your fan might result into this kind of noise. It is also possible that your microprocessor is getting heated up too much, which is causing the fan to run faster and make noise. Replacing your fan with an ultra-quiet CPU fan that is compatible with your laptop might help. Be careful while replacing, refer your laptops manual on how to open and replace the fan.

If your laptop is new, bring it back to the dealer and avail of the warranty. If not so new, then it is heating up. Cooling fans are normally thermal controlled. When temp is up, the fans run faster. Thus, try using it in a cooler environment or have a cooling platform. Otherwise, have a service center check the cooling fan. The RAM has very little or no effect on the cooling fan.

No. Major heat generation is from the CPU and the GPU (your video processor). RAM can generate heat and people do put heatsinks on them.. but typically in high performance situations. RAM will have NO effect on fan noise unless the maker positioned the internal components in a VERY bad way (this isn't likely.. but ..) If your lappy is older than say 3 years, I'd get a new one. Otherwise, upgrade that beast.

good question. if your computer use/need lots processing power then it will generate more heat the your fan will have to work more.
if you have more RAM in your computer computer can process it quickly 1GB vs 4GB so your process will generate less heat.
first clean the fan/heat sink outlet with compress air ( get a compressed air can) reinstall the system. ( you will have a clean system without unwanted stuff in the system, this will help your system to process fast)
They you upgrade the memory. good luck

The ram memory modules have no relation to a noisy fan and will not help the fan noise.
Clean out cooling vents or replace fan.

the noise only happens when you put your computer to work. if you get a 4gb ram it would make it alot quieter and you can do other operations faster

Not if the fan is bad
