how do i get my son to stop talking at night so he can sleep?
my son is six years old and is a little chatterbox.which im fine with, the only time im not is when it is bedtime. ive tried everything i can think of to get him to quiet down and sleep but it doesn't seem to be working. ive tried warm baths before bed, ive tried warm milk before bed, ive tried no drinks at night. what else is there that i can try?
he has a little brother that is 4 yrs old that he talks to til his brother falls asleep then he keeps talking to himself.ive never heard of sleeping pills for kids:s and i read them bedtime stories every night and it doesnt matter if its long or short he is still awake.
and he does lots of activities outside.he runs and yells plays with his papa's dogs outside, plays with the cats outdoors, feeds the animals etc.and we live in the country where theres lots of fresh air that you would think would make him sleepy but nope.and driving him in the van doesnt work either (and gas isnt cheap so its not like we can go for hours) and he wakes up as soon as we bring him inside.
leanna he doesnt talk in his sleep he doesnt stop talking at all.and he's awake even after a bedtime story and he goes on and on and on about everything and anything.

Put him to bed and let him talk himself to step. i have two grand daughters like this. Never a quiet second.
Bed time is bedtime, you get tucked in, kissed and hugged, then you stay in bed. One sided chatter last much less than when he's being answered.

is he able to write yet? Get him a journal and a flashlight and let him write down his thoughts after his bedtime story. Let him have it for about an hour after story time and then go in and take the flashlight. Make sure he understands that it means no more talking or writing after that.

What has your son say in his sleep? Does it sound like a night-mire? If it's a night-mire just get good thoughts going in his head before bed. Maybe a dream catcher, too.

You should probably take him to the doctor or the best solution here is to take sleeping pills. Let him take it before bed for a week and then slowly he'll start to sleep. Or maybe you should read him some bedtime stories. Or swing something before his eyes, and then his eyes will get tired.

make him do more demanding activities during the day. If you let him run around outside for hours, he will be tired by night.

Stop listening.
Ask him to save his thoughts for tomorrow, tuck him into bed, and leave his room.

just put him in his bed and leave, because then there is no one to talk.
