1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, A518 trans has no reverse after being stuck in snow?
A friend of mine hung up his Jeep, I wasn't there, so I don't know what he did, and now it won't back up. Nothing happens when it is in reverse and the fluid level is correct. I figured I would ask if there could be something simple to fix before I replace the trans for him. Thanks.

Check the linkage going to the transmission to see if it got bent or damaged, if that looks good, check the fluid for color and smell, if its brown and smells burnt, he probably burned up the transmission, it doesn't take much rocking back and forth to burn it up. Tell him to carry a strap and a come-a-long, winch his way out, save the trans! Good Luck!
