What can I do to help my dog stop scratching?

It's definitely not fleas, so I don't know how to help her. I think it's allergies, but I don't know to what. She licks, bites and scratches in different spots. I feel so sad because I know she's just miserable. Does anyone know what I can do for her?

This is the "miracle" you need ... to find a good vet who knows what's wrong with your dog. We've had dogs that do that and have tried sooo many things. One gets under the table and scratches her back all the time.Seems to be mainly in smaller dogs.I'd say completely change their food .If it's fleas use Dawn dish detergent. If they are allergic to fleas you might have to wash them in it every day or so...just one flea can do it. If I don't get mine something like Frontline they scratch all the time...but last time it didn't work so I changed to a new kind (which I can't remember the name but it worked). It might be the Frontline or whatever you're using for fleas. To me...it seems to be something like psoriasis. If I didn't have a creme for that I'd be losing my mind scratching. I feel so sorry for them when they have to scratch all the time. I'd check with other vets too..if you're lucky enough to have a choice. Good Luck!

She's probably got a skin allergy. I had the same problem with my bulldog, he's solid white. I tried every kind of flea medicine to soothing shampoos. The vet told me to give him a benadryl which helped only because it knocked him out and then he woke up digging and scratching again. Finally I took him to another vet they gave him an allergy shot and he has been fine ever since! We're not sure what caused this but the flea meds and monthly shot has completely stopped him from any scratching at all other than rubbing his back in the grass on sunny days :) The shot runs around $35 and I buy Advatage Flea medicine about $45 for a 3 month supply. The vet doesn't charge me a fee for seeing my dog I just drop in around the first of every month tell them what I need get him weighed and a shot and back out in 15 mins tops. I hope this helps and good luck i know how frustrating it is with a scratching pup who wont stop and nothing you do helps them. Good luck!!!

Put some powdered Cinnamon over the food and it will stop the itching.

It is a natural way to halt allergies in dogs.

The Lord gave me this remedy one time and later I found out that it was also written up in the pet magazines like one month later for the same thing.

Shows where Wisdom comes from the Lord.:)

You can try putting some vegtable or olive oil on her food once a day to help with skin and coat

care. If that does'nt work you probably need to get her a cortisone injection from your vet. That will

help consideraly within 24 hrs. Hope this works for you!

Easy - take her to the vet to find out what's going on. Take a look at what you're feeding her - does it have corn and/or wheat in it? Those are major causes of food allergies in dogs. Does she have mange? You can't do anything for her until you find out what's causing it - that's what the vet is for.

If you're unwilling to take her to the vet, I suggest you start switching her over to a grain-free food immediately. Food allergies are the most common allergy to cause itching.
