I have a fleece blanket and i would like to restore and soften it. Any suggestions?
it is 4+ years old and is very important and loved by it's owner. The surface of it is not as fluffy and as smooth as i would like it to be. It appears to have litte grooves, almost bumpy and textured, and i want to restore it to its former glory. I want to make it very smooth (get rid of that rough texture), soft to the touch, and light and fluffy.

I do know that adding just TSP household cleaner powder to a wash load(1/4 cup) removes all the residue of laundry detergents....yes, there are build ups left by the use of laundry detergents...then I would put in some fabric softener in the second washing (dont use detergent for washing....just add softener to the rinse).... dry on an air setting (as heat tends to make fabric pill up ) then maybe take a semi stiff brush and brush out the entire surface of the blanket.....

soak the blanket in a liquid detergent like Woolite in cold water over night the next day wash it in cold water and rinse it twice dry on a low setting .
