    Its a dilemma!

My deer rifle (pictured) has an ABS Stock - Plastic. The terrain were I stalk deer is pretty rough and if a plastic stock takes a beating so what. My best shotguns are wood - grade 5 to be precise. Apart from my fowling gun which again is ABS.

Wood stocks are the obvious go for looks / showoff factor. But the synthetic stocks are cheaper and you don't have to be very careful with them.

For cosmetics, I love a wood stock. For stability that increases accuracy and for weather resistance in hunting conditions, synthetic is the way to go.

Wood looks nice but,a synthetic takes a beating better and last forever.

I like the look of wood, but for stability in various temperatures and durability I have synthetic laminated composite stocks on my hunting rifles nowadays!

I'll take a wooden stock over a synthetic ANY DAY.

When I go shooting, I go shooting- 200-300 rds is nothing when I do go, so after a while, a wooden stock is real nice when compared to a synthetic. Besides, all the synthetics I've shot have been p.o.s's and I don't like the butt pad logo being imprinted on my shoulder after shooting a synthetic.

    Wooden stocks are prettier too.

Wood, since it's heavier. Synthetic stocks are lighter and will give the gun a higher recoil.

on guns that could possibly be used in a combat situation. you never know then synthetic. u drop your gun and the stock breaks then u can just swing the barrel as a club. wood is nice and been used since guns were made if the rifle is free floated barrel then there will be no loss in acuracy as the stock swells and shrinks

With synthetic you don't have to worry about climate/rain etc, particularly if you choose a stainless barrel.

I've used a Tikka T3 in service rifle competition so that's NOT what you could call a POS :)
