The game reset your screen to 800x600. It happens.
The game is supposed to reset your screen back to it's original setting when you end it. Occasionally it doesn't happen (and it can be annoying...).
Right click on the screen, and go to Properties.
Go to the tab or drop-down menu that allows you to change the resolution on your screen, and reset it to 1280x960 or whatever your preferred setting is.
