What should I do to fix my car's cd player?
I have been driving a 2005 Nissan Altima since fall 2007. The cd player in the car has never worked right. It will do one of three things: not load the cd at all, load the cd but not play it, or it will not eject the cd. I still have the stock radio/cd player, nothing has been replaced. I have tried to clean the player multiple times with a cd that you buy with little brushes on it. For Christmas, I received a new cd player to replace this one. I still love the stock radio. The look of it flows well with the rest of the interior. Should I change out my current cd player with a new one that will not give me these problems? Or should I try to consult my local Nissan dealership about possibly getting it fixed through them, so the look of the radio stays the same?

You may want to go with an aftermarket that has a similar look, I was looking at photos of the unit and it doesn't seem like it is that unusual and would not be hard to replace with a similar looking unit say the JVC KW-X6500 for instance...my personal preference would be a unit that has GPS Like the Pioneer AVIC X710BT it would upgrade the look considerably but that might cost more than you want to spend...

I have a 06 altima, with the factory radio. I agree the radio does look good with the rest of the dash, it doesnt play MP3's nor does it have an ipod plug, but thats ok with me, with this car.
The only time I would suggest keeping the factory radio is when:
1. The car is still under warranty and it can be repaired/replaced at no cost.
2. If the radio controls more than just the Radio/CD functions, like navigation, transmission, ignition, alarm, etc
3. Or the radio is not a difined size like single din, double din where the volume is way at the bottom while the screen is way at the top like the newer foreign cars Mercedes, Lexus', etc
On a second note, if the radio is not doing what you need it to do and its not too expensive to replace, do it. Nowadays new radio have alot of new features than just the plain old factory deck. Like Mp3 capability, ipod integration... and also upgrades like navigation, dvd players, etc
