I have a few general questions about TEX (mathematical typesetting, not text messaging)...

1. How do you make TEX not automatically put in the date?

2. How do you make a fraction in TEX? Example: (n-p+lambda)/2 where n-p+lambda is the numerator

3. How do you indent lists in TEX?

4. Why is it that when I want to put an apostrophe, to show possession, I need to put two apostrophes for just 1 to show up? Example: K''s displays K's

I am trying this code, but I cannot get the numbers for average, highest, and lowest to come out right. When I run the program in the compiler, weird negative numbers, in the thousands come up. What do I need to do to the program to fix it?

I am trying to get a college scholarship. I am one point away from the required ACT composite score to get the scholarship & I have the GPA. I have taken the ACT multiple times and while my latest score is the highest, one of my past English test scores is higher. How do college's stack scores? The college I am looking into attending will stack scores only for awarding scholarships.

Are sub-scores for individual subjects taken into consideration for stacking?

I have been driving a 2005 Nissan Altima since fall 2007. The cd player in the car has never worked right. It will do one of three things: not load the cd at all, load the cd but not play it, or it will not eject the cd. I still have the stock radio/cd player, nothing has been replaced. I have tried to clean the player multiple times with a cd that you buy with little brushes on it. For Christmas, I received a new cd player to replace this one. I still love the stock radio. The look of it flows well with the rest of the interior. Should I change out my current cd player with a new one that will not give me these problems? Or should I try to consult my local Nissan dealership about possibly getting it fixed through them, so the look of the radio stays the same?

I have been working on this problem for a while.

The word problem says, there is a square, but that square is changed into a rectangle by making one side 8 cm longer and the width of another side 2 cm shorter. The perimeter of the rectangle is 40. I am trying to find what the original length of the sides of the square was. I have worked it out like this...

(s-2)(s-2)(s+8)(s+8)

I subtracted 2 from the length of the side (s) and multiplied it twice because there are two pairs of congruent sides in a rectangle. I added 8 and multiplied it twice for the same reason.

(s-2)(s-2)(s+8)(s+8)

(s^2-4s+4)(s+8)

(s^3-4s^2+4s-28s+32)(s+8)

s^4+12s^3+4s^2-192s+256

Then I subtracted 40 because the perimeter is 40 so that would make it...s^4+12s^3+4s^2-192s+216

Now, I guess I should factor to find the length of the side of the original square? How would I factor that equation?? I know how to factor using gcf, but I can't find one for the problem. Did I even do the problem right up to this point?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501. I got it in September 2007 as a gift. A few months after receiving the gift I noticed the little rubber pieces were becoming unglued, since then 2 of the pieces have fully detached from the bottom of the laptop. Is there a special type of glue I need to use in order to get the rubber pieces glued back on? Since I began noticing the pieces coming off, I don't take my laptop out of its case when I use it. I am not really sure that the pieces are made of rubber or if they are glued to plastic...It just looks like it.

I was in American Eagle today & I walked in after a song had started playing. The singer looked like T.I. but I only got a glance of him (I didn't stare at the TV the whole time the video was playing). During the video there was a part where they showed a video game, one that looked similar to Galaga...I don't know if that is what the game is called, but it looked like it to me.

Any idea about who sings it, what the song or even the album is called? I know I don't have too much helpful information, but I hope someone knows what it is! I wish AE put their music online by store...that would make this SO much easier. :)

Yesterday, my Yahoo toolbar had a red Y! button, just a minute ago I noticed it was now purple...Why?

I took a PLAN test a few months ago. Prior to the PLAN I took the ACT, just to experience the test. Ever since I received my PLAN score, I have also received letters in the mail. A certain large college has also been sending me e-mails, along with a brochure in the mail. Only one college has e-mailed me.

Is this college seriously interested in me? Or do they send e-mails to all high school students in the state? I don't know anyone in my class who has received the amount of letters I have, nor e-mails. I don't even know anyone who gets letters from the larger universities in the state.

I don't know if this matters, but I go to a private school. I am still in high school and I am unsure what I want to be so I have not decided on a college.

I was wondering, if I placed my cell phone on charge before the battery is completely drained, will it harm my cell phone? I have the standard battery for the LG VX5200. I've had it since Christmas Eve 2005. It seems that everytime I go on a "trip" where my cell phone would be useful, it dies, so I thought maybe if it doesn't hurt it, I could put it on charge the night before I go somewhere no matter how much battery I have left.

I accidentally turned off the Tabs and a pop up came up and said if I wanted to turn the tabs back on go here....but it has been like a week and I cannot remember where I have to go. Hey, I got a nano for Christmas last year (2005) and am wondering, is this a 5th generation iPod, and if so, can I purchase and play the new iPod games? (A few are Tetris, Pac Man, BeJewled, etc)

A relative of mine was just brought home after a night drinking and most likely partying, she is very drunk. She can hardly stand and walk on her own. She is barely awake enough to make the I Love You and thumbs up signs. We (the relative and myself) have a considerable age difference and I am wondering what can I do to help her while she is drunk so she doesn't get into a drunken rage?

I already placed a small bathroom trashcan lined with a towel I found in the room so she could throw up.

She is still in her clothes (a dressy tube top and blue jeans), make up, and contacts. She shouldn't sleep in make up or contacts and would be uncomfortable in clothes all night. I don't want to discomfort her, but I don't want either of us to be in trouble come morning and she is still in her clothes and has a massive hangover. I don't want us to be in trouble if it can be avoided by doing something. We are good kids who don't get into trouble like this and she is of age to drink.

What can I do?
