It depends whether its during or after exercise or not
Sounds like it could be to do with your knee cartilage being as its kinda all over really
if its hurting on the inside it could have something to do with medial collateral ligament...and the outside being your lateral colateral ligament.
Or your patella tendon
or you may have arthritis or Chondromalacia or bursitis... depending on the rest of the sympstoms really
i say you google a few of those and see if your symptoms match
but the only true way you know is to get checked out at the hospital :)

Since you are on the younger side, I'm leaning towards a common disorder called patellafemoral syndrome where you patella doesn't track right for some reason. It will give you pain on and around your kneecap along with sometimes grinding, giving out of the knee, etc. The pain under the kneecap is probably the cartilage being irritated from rubbing against the femur. I would say see your GP and they might refer you to an orthopedic. In the end, you will probably get a brace called a patella stabilizer, do some physical therapy to stregthen your muscles, etc. Usually, like 90% of the time, surgery isnt needed unless you have it dislocate and repeated instability.

main thing is to go to physical therapy to strengthen the muscles to pull on the kneecap....avoid deep squats or running on pavement....
Good Luck :)

It may well be that you have what is termed "Osgood-Schlatter's Disease". (sp?) It occurs when you are usually between the age of 13-17 and it affects when you are growing. It's often termed growing pains. Your bones will grow faster than the muscles, ligaments and tendons. You should have either a CT or MRI to determine the cause. It may be that your previous injury never healed completely and it is now causing problems as your growing. Good luck.

If the knee hurts during rain storms or when it becomes cold it could be early signs of arthritis. You should really go to a doctor you could be loosing cartilage and might need a surgery if serious or go to physical therapy.
