Anyone own a Taurus Millenium Pro ?
I was thinking of picking up one for a carry gun. I have a few other .45's, but I'd like a compact one for CCW

I have the PT-111 Pro (Mil Pro) 9mm. It has been my ccw for about 8 months now. I have fired nearly 1000 rounds through it. So far, so good.
Taurus has had a ton of problems with their poly (plastic) frame pistols- especially the 40 and 45 cal. Quality control is poor at best-but they come with a lifetime warranty. So, you can always send it to the factory. Service time is terrible-so I hear.
If you do buy one...make sure its new and that it is a 3rd generation.
A good site to "feel this out" before you buy is-Taurus Armed Net (see below)
They have a category just for mil pro and also a complaint section. I suggest you read up on the complaints and mil pro section before you buy.

On the ballistics charts- the 9mm seem anemic against the 40 and 45 acp. However-that is all just numbers calculated from weight and velocity of the bullet. In actual human shootings, there is no visible difference in all 3 calibers. The data says the 9mm has a 91% 1 shot rating, while both the 40 cal and 45 acp have a 94% rating. You can not tell the difference . You can only measure it on paper. I carry the Taurus PT-111 (9mm) every day for ccw. I have the Taurus 845 beside my bed. If you need a service weapon.....then you may can argue for the 3% difference. But for home protection and ccw- there is no difference. If you have to shoot a grizzley....there may be a difference. Then why do I carry a 9mm and yet have a 45 by my bed??? Just because I have one. Sometimes I swap them out.

The millenium pro keeps the taurus warranty dept. pretty busy. Fine for a fun gun that doesn't see anything other than a range day once a year. But if it's something to carry that you may someday have to depend on to stay alive, I'd look elsewhere.
