Are Urban Fantasy authors losing it?

I mean, mostly these days, most urban fantasy thrillers are about romance. That"s why I hesitate picking up a thriller with a female protagonist. The Dresden Files and the Twenty Palaces Society series rock.

Charles De Lint and Emma Bull are a good change... maybe a touch too slow to be thrillers, though. Borderlands novels tend to be good, too.

Oh, and if you want something a little darker than Dresden, try Simon Green's Nightside series. Or Chine Mieville's Perdido Street Station.

Here's a link to the Borderlands series (which also explains why I don't try to explain it).

The Dresden Files are awesome. I like Charles De Lint too. Not too much romance at all. Urban fantasy too but heavy mythology stuff, fascinating plot, I think you might enjoy his books.
