Can I install a different driver for my touchpad?
I have an HP laptop with a Synaptics touchpad & driver. My question is: can I install a different driver that will still work correctly with my touchpad?
I like the scrolling feature that my friend's Dell laptop has for continuous scrolling
Also, does the Dell laptop driver allow for "touch zones"?
Synaptics has a feature where each of the four corners can be set to have a different action. e.g. I tap the top left to middle click, tap the top right to maximize, bottom right to minimize and bottom left set to type out my username.

Drivers communicate hardware with software. Every piece of hardware has its own driver and different drivers will not be compatible with it. Not only will the driver not work with your touchpad as hardware, but your touchpad itself is not made with the feature that your friend's has.

No the driver has to match the touch pad installed by the manufacturers brand used.
Changing the driver will not enable the touch pad to do what it was not designed for like four corner functions etc.

Go to control panel and adjust mouse/touchpad settings and/or use device manager and upgrade the drivers for your specific device

Synaptics drivers and enhancements are specific to the make and model of you pc, you will have to go to HP's site to see what is available for your laptop. the links below (from HP) have what you want but I cannot guarantee theyt will work on your specific PC, you may have to enter your model number on HP's site to see what downloads are specific to you.
