Don't know if I should join the Marines?
My parents wants me to join the Marines because they think that I should be more active and gain some skills while in the military. While my school try to prevent me not to go to the military because they think that in the military, you can't get an education and its dangerous, performing actions that can cause you your life. My teacher's recommend me continue to attend college where I'll be more suited for academic achievements but consequently my parents want me to join the Marines and so I think the fine way to settle this would be participate in the military after graduating from college but I'm not sure if that's possible because I had already sign a lot of papers and about to be departed to boot camp this August. The process for me to go to becoming a marine is almost complete, except that I have to pass the ISP test. Based on my decision, I want to attain more skills and experience to develop my character but also finishing my education as well. However it seemed that my teachers said that the government are sending more troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, so the recruiters will gather enough people to join the military because they're desperate. I'm still in high school and a senior going to college, so I pretty much join the Marines because my cousin asked me to preferably ask the recruiter to see if its fit for me. Truly I think that joining the military is beneficial due to their large option of giving the applicant more benefits but broadly I think its pretty risky because you'll be performing dangerous tasks that can harm your life but my recruiter tells me that I won't be placed on the front line but rather further behind to assist on the mission. Originally my cousin want to me join the Navy but she thinks that its similar staying in the ship distant from the battle. My brother also commented that becoming a Marine is a meticulous task and suggest me to change to another military branch but I'm not so sure, the Marines has the longest boot camp time period out of all the branches and its an elite force that requires your utmost ability. I mean its an intense training that was constantly test your skills and nervousness is usually a feeling that I can't escape from, so in an concluded sentence should I join the military or choose another route for me life?

It's YOUR life. Grow some & decide what YOU want to do.
I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps and guess what after those 4 years I was allowed to get out. Then I went to college I have a 4 year degree in history and no student loans (thanks to my GI Bill)...oh I also have my own house thanks to my VA loan.
It's your life, if you want to join...join, if you want another branch...go. If you feel college is your best option at this point, well guess what!

Your recruiter in the marines must not like you because you have to be 32 before they will turn you away, but even then you can still get in all that is needed is a waiver. I would try to talk to another recruiter. As the marines and army are totally different.

Well, if you're concerned with learning technical skills or going to college, I suggest the Air Force or Navy....or even the Coast Guard. If not that, then at least choose a technical field in the USMC ;)

It is your life and you need to decide. My 2 cents is go ahead and finish the enlistment process (and it is the IST not ISP). Join the Marines. If you like it make it a career. If you don't get out when your 4 years are up and go to school (they will pay too).

The military started off as a good idea. I used to respect it.
But now, sadly, it is nothing more than a mechanism to preserve the fractional reserve monetary system responsible for poverty, separation of wealth, and many forms of differential advantage.

Before everyone falls victim to societal conditioning and begins ridiculing me for not supporting people who "defend our country" let me say this: I support the PEOPLE in the military because they are there for just causes. I do not support the idea of military, or what they are doing in modern times. The soldiers are good people, the people telling them where to go are the criminals.
