Leaving for Basic Training on Tuesday! (Airforce)?

Its for the Air force.

I just wanna how hard is it to retire in the Air Force? Like, do you think the average person would be able to do it and what would stop the average person from retiring in the Air Force? Thanks

First off congrads on your decision. You have just become part of a very strong family….. But I digress I completely agree with what the others have had to say here….. The air for will give you every tool and opportunity to excel and become someone great….. The more you put into your air force career the more you will get out of it….. With a positive attitude and a little elbow grease you can breeze through your first enlistment… then you have a chance to look back on your last 4 or 6 years and make the decision to stay in or to separate. … Good study skills is a must, volunteer, work hard, you will do great….

Hope your air force career will turn out as prosperous as mine has… good luck to you.

And Donald. Thank you for your service in nam. We salute you brother

I think you will get out of the Air Force just what you put into it. You will have to WORK. Just like any job. You are just starting out and you will certainly find out for yourself just how hard military life can be. Each person is different, but I think millions of guys have gone through the Air Force and have done just fine. Thank you for wanting to serve, God bless you.

When you get to Lackland keep your mouth shut and your ears open and don't volunteer for anything!

Make sure you have a job that can transition to the private sector "guaranteed in writing"before you head out!

Promotion is easy if you study hard!

    Good Luck!

It all depends on your outlook. If you do your job well and play nice with others, then you should have a shot at doing twenty to life.
