Anyone have any feedback regarding the roster?

Did Steve Yzerman make the right decisions?

Will Canada earn gold medal this time?

How will Drew Doughty fair in the Olympics at such a young age?

Do you think anyone else deserved to be on the team?

Was Patrice Bergeron a good choice?

Tell me what you think!

    1) I have no feedback

    2) Yes

    3) Who knows? That's why they play the tournament. We saw in 2006 and 1998 that all it takes is a hot goaltender to throw a team off. 6 teams could win this tournament (which means that 6 teams could finish 6th), Canada is one of them.

    4) Drew is unlikely to get a lot of playing time as Canada's 7th defenceman. This is a learning experience for him.

    5) I think there are several players who could have made the team. However, this team was picked with a methodology of picking people who were familiar with one another, and hence certain players are on the team that might have been on the outside had other methodologies been used. Lecavalier has been playing lights out in December. St. Louis is having a great season, as is Mike Green. Bouwmeester and Phaneuf could have easily been here as well. The list goes on.

    6) Yes, a young and up and coming player who has a lot of skill and is versatile. He's played with Sid before at the World juniors, and he's played with Nash before at the Worlds. People seem to be surprised about putting him on the team, but Pierre Maguire, Bob McKenzie, Ray Ferraro, Bill Watters, Mike Milbury, etc have been raving about Bergeron (and Mike Fisher) as a potential Olympian since early November. People across Canada who have watched HNIC, TSN, and SportsNet have been hearing Bergeron's name non-stop for 7 weeks. At this time, it's unknown who will be the 13th forward (possibly Toews), but if it's Bergeron, it will be a great experience for him.

I don't see Gonchar playing for Russia. He will be 40 years old in 2014 and his age is showing. Look at how bad his numbers were last season and his speed is awful. I guess he could maybe be a powerplay specialist but I don't any other role for him. I'll bet more KHL players will be on the roster, especially for D, than you predicted. I agree Canada's roster is great but I think they may build differently than what you predicted. I think the way the USA designed their team last olympics is going to have a big impact on how other teams design their roster. I bet they will want to have a 4th line with either an enforcer or a big-body grinder. I wouldn't be surprised to see a line of Lucic - Staal - Richards. I also don't trust Canada's goalies. I think price is overrated, Fleury is solid but goes on cold streaks and gives up easy goals, and I like Cam Ward but he is always overlooked. I don't know who will fill that hole but if it's Roberto Luongo, I might have to boycott the olympics.

I'm very excited for this tournament. Regardless of the eventual outcome, we are in for some amazing hockey! I think Canada is the favourite for gold, but the best team does not always win in a one-game elimination format. The team will have to have clutch performances, solid goaltending, and a little luck. Home ice advantage will help.

Doughty is a consummate professional and will be consistent if not spectacular. As a Flames fan, I'd like to see Bouwmeester on the team. He is an unbelieveable skater, is very effective with his stick, and has such a calm demeanor at all times. I also would have chosen Sharp or Roy to play Bergeron's role. Having said that, I can't remember ever watching a Bruins game that Bergeron wasn't injured for, so I can't objectively assess his selection. Go Canada!

    1) The roster is solid i dont know what goes into picking the team so you have to trust Yzerman

    2) We will never knpw if he made the right decisions because if they lose we will say he didnt but if we win we will say he did but we will not know how others would have faired in the olympics

    3) Canada has a chance to get a gold medal but so does everyone else injuries happen and it all depends on how hot a goalie is at the time

    4) Age really shouldnt make a difference he was good enough to make so he should do just fine he is wise beyond his years

    5) Jeff Carter or Patrick Sharp Carter can score goals and he does it at will Sharp can score goals kill penalties play a checking role and has chemistry with Toews

    6) He is top 60 in scoring can kill penalties wins faceoffs and if Yzerman thinks hes good enough then hes good enough

Canada will not win gold. It will come down between Russia and Sweden. Jay bouwmeester should have been included.
