Which car is better when it comes to reliability and fuel efficiency?
I want to purchase a new car after, my insurance stated that my car is a total lost due to my old car being in flood water. I wanted something within my budget so I was thinking of a Mazda 3 (4 door), Toyota Corolla, and the Ford Focus. I want to keep my car for a very long time even after my college years are over, so I was wondering which car should I consider when it comes to reliability, fuel efficiency, and I do not pay a lot for the parts even if something did happen to the vehicle.

They are all good choices. The insurance will be highest on the Mazda 3.

Well...you can get a 2003/2004 Chevy Corvette Z06. It makes over 400 horsepower and gets 29mpg on the highway. Don't think you are going to find anything better than that.

If you want a car that will last and need very little attention go for the Toyota every time. They are extremely reliable.

Don't buy a Toyota. They have had failing quality in the past few years, and their "floor mat" problem is sometime electrical. CBS did a full story about them and how people died from the accelerator problem even without the floor mats that caused the issue. Toyota just waived them off and said you must have mistaken the gas for the brake pedal. The Ford Fusion just won the Car of the Year Award from Car and Driver, and Ford has had immense jumps in quality recently. They are definitely one of the better cars on the road again. And Mazda is owned by Ford so they have the same quality pretty much. I vote on the Focus, but the Mazda would be nice if you want something sportier

Corolla or a VW Jetta TDI. The Jetta is a fantastic car and although somewhat exsensive they are worth the money. They get FANTASTIC gas mileage (better than Corolla) they are very inexspensive and easy to maintain, and since it is a Diesel the engine will last for over one million miles with the only maintanance being an oil change. (possibly new piston rings)

The Toyota Corolla is, without a doubt, the best car when it comes to reliability, and fuel efficiency.
