Four wisdom tooth removed?

I had my four wisdom tooth removed 2 days ago at the dentist. I thought this was a joke at first until I went in for the procedure, which was 30th dec. I wished I hadnt gone in a day before new years eve. I would like to know if I did the right thing. I have only had problems with the bottom 2, but the upper two never really game me [problems, however after the xray, the dentist said I needed to take all four out, which I agreed to, Money wasnt the problem,

however I was injected all sides of my gums to numb the areas to be operated on, so i didnt sleep through the procedure and it was pretty scary, i freaked out a bit before the surgery started. It went well though but the lower 2 tooth took a long time to drill, cut and pull out, and afterwards I went home.

I still have swollen jaw, cheeks and face, as Ive ran out of ice pack. I managed to go to church on new years eve but ended up with a bigger swollen face when i woke up this morning. Is there anything else I can do to ease the pain more and also the best foods to take? Ive been taking yoghurt, protein shakes and boiled eggs with fruit juices with my medications (painkillers and antibiotics)

Your post op experience at this stage sounds perfectly normal. The third day is when maximum pain and swelling occur. Heat will now do better than icing. Use warm saline rinses several times a day especially after eating. A heating pad will also be of some use. I hope you were given some stronger pain pills than what you can buy over the counter. I don't know why you are on antibiotics now, unless you had a lot of infection to begin with. I hope it just isn't a preventive measure. You diet is fine and can be taken with the meds. You must be pretty brave to have all the work done at one time with just a local anesthetic. I wish you the best of luck and have a happy new year Mea.

Mea...TEETH>> TEETH>> TEETH..... What You Went Thru Is Most Unpleasant.. Look After Your Body Girl...Best Not To Go Out For a Few Days...You'll Really Suffer If You Get A Cold In Your Mouth / Jaw At this Time... Try and Take More Nourishing Foods ie Soups, Fruit Smoothies (Not Cold!) And Warm Drinks Etc....Stay Off Solids Until The Gums Have healed Over ( 4/5 Days ) Food Debris In The Cracks Can Lead to Infections..... Spend an Extra Couple Of Hours In Bed (Sleeping If Possible) Each Day...Natures Best Recuperation System ! ..Wash Your Mouth Out Frequently With Warm Salt Water

Other Than The Above.. Good Luck !! You'll Soon Be Snogging Again !! Ha ha !

I had this same procedure done about a month and a half ago. Same situation. All four teeth. Bad location. I was terrified, but there's really no need to worry. If you don't get it done, that loss of feeling that you're so concerned about will happen because of how the teeth are growing in. Just ask you're dentist. Ask to be asleep during the process and it'll feel like a second. The gauze is uncomfortable and it hurts a bit, but as long as you apply cold and hot as directed and take some asprin, you'll be fine. It'll heal up in about a week and you might have a bit of a gross taste in your mouth from the stitches, but nothing too serious. Just brush you're teeth and gargle. I thought I would be fine and wound up being very uncomfortable. Everything turned out great though. The teeth are out. There's no residue of pain or anything. To be honest, I haven't thought of it until you asked this question. I hope everything works out well.

firstly, an antibiotic is probably the way to go. To lessen swelling on the face, SLEEP WITH YOUR HEAD ELEVATED, MAYBE ON 3 Or 4 PILLOWs. If u sleep flat, u will be more swollen in the am. Don't worry about foods at the moment, take care of the issue.

Rinse and brush with warm salt water and you will be fine. The warm water as warm as you can take to stimulate the gums and bring blood flow and the salt will kill off bacteria.Have to keep the pockets were the teeth were clean.

  • keep ice packs on it. I know it hurts but the ice will make you recover faster.
