The never ending Nas vs Jay Z comparison?

Yeah I know its been played out but I'm curious

Q1: Illmatic vs. Reasonable Doubt. Which album is better lyrically? Which album is better musically?

Q2: Who made the worst album of the two and which album is it?

Q3: What is the most underrated song for each of them?

Q4: Who will retire first?

Q5: List your favorite 3 songs from each of them.

I hope this Q doesn't crash and burn.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, BTW. HOPE 2010 IS A GOOD ONE FOR ALL.

    1) Lyrically and musically Illmatic

    2) I think BP3 is a lot worse than Kingdom Come, but Nastradamus is a lot better than BP3. Still, if given the choice, I'd rather not listen to either.

    3) Jay-Z: December 4th, Nas: Rule

    4) Probably Jay-Z. He's got nothin else to do

    5) Jay-Z: December 4th, Heart of the City, Brooklyn's Finest

Nas: Star Wars, It Ain't Hard to Tell, Queens Get the Money

  • Q1: Illmatic lyrically and RD musically. But I think Illmatic is the superior album overall.

Q2: They've both made some bad albums, but I think I Am and Nastradamus are worse then Jay's worst. Untitled and Vol 3 are as bad as each other.

    Q3: Nas - You're Da Man. Jay-Z - Meet The Parents.

Q4: Jay Z. He's got more money and as long as he keeps releasing records, Nas will.

Q5: From Nas - NY State Of Mind, One Mic and Dance. From Jay - Meet The Parents, No Hook and 99 Problems.

Happy New Year to you too.

  • 1. Neither are overwhelmingly lyrical but probably Illmatic. Musically, Reasonable Doubt is better due to the insane production and female guest appearances.

    2. Jay-Z's Kingdom Come is worse than Nas' worst effort

    3. Nas- One Love, Jay-Z- 22 Two's

    4. I can see Jigga retiring after possibly 1 more album, he doesn't need album sales to continue his lifestyle. Nas will do a bit more work if he is going to pay Kelis every month

    5. Nas- The Message, Nas Is Like..., The World Is Yours, Represent and One Love

    Jay-Z- Dead Presidents, D'evils, Can't Knock The Hustle, Ain't No ****a, 22 Two's

Q1. Illmatic was more lyrical. Reasonable Doubt had a few bangers, but other than that it was an average album.b Musically, Reasonable Doubt was better, because of Mary J. Blige...

    Q2. Jay-Z. Blueprint 3.

Q3. Nas - Dance. I can't think of an underrated Jay-Z song. I'm not a big fan of his to know that.

Q4. From making music, Jay. From the music biz all together, Nas.

Q5. Nas - Dance, NaS is Like, One Love. Jay-Z - Dead Presidents ll, Brooklyn's Finest, The Takeover.

Nas- NY State Of Mind, Life's a Bi*ch, Ether

    Jay-Z- D'Evils, Already Home, 99 Problems

    You too man,

  • Illmatic is better Lyrically and musically and overall better

Nas made the worst album in Nastradamus

Most underrated song from Nas is Last real ***** alive Jay-Z underrated song is This can't be life

Well at this rate, Nas is going to retire first because I think Jay-Z is going to keep rapping until he is 50. Beyonce would have to tell him he can't rap anymore before he would retire.

    Top Nas songs

    My Worst Enemy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-QTpAlRUUc

Raekwon - Verbal Intercourse Feat. Nas & Ghostface Killah

Q1: Lyrically ~ Illmatic. Musically ~ Reasonable Doubt

Q2: Illmatic. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Illmatic was an album when Nas hadn't come into his "flow" or "style" and he was "struggling" a bit. His lyrics were great, his beats were great but he just wasn't the Nas we know today. He wasn't totally "developed". Too "raw" for me. I wonder when people are going to get off the hater tip for "Kingdom Come" when it came out everyone was banging it in their car stereos and CD players and now that it's older they suddenly lay no claim to it...jealous haters who cannot stand a true rag to riches story...sad, sad, sad.

Q3: Nas ~ either "Street Poet" or "Street Dreams" ft. Lauren Hill

Q4: Hard to say...Nas owes a crap load of money to the IRS and is deeply in debt, he can't stop now. He just had a kid and has 18 of paying for that. Jay however is sitting pretty with checks coming in everyday that have nothing to do with RHH. Probably Jay.

Q5. Nas ~ It Ain't Hard To Tell

    Street Dreams ft. Lauren Hill

    NY State of Mind

    Black Girl Lost

    Hip Hop Is Dead

    One Love

    Jay-Z ~Imaginary Players

    Can I Get A ...(Explicit)

    Numb/Encore ft. Linkin Park

    99 Problems

    Dead Presidents, Pt. II

    Minority Report

    Happy 2010!!!

    Q2: Nastradamus takes the cake

    Q3: Doo Rags & Can I Live

Q4: They will both rap until death

    Q5:

If I Ruled The World, Doo Rags, Queen Get The Money

    D'evils, Dead Presidents 2, Can I Live

    1. reasonable doubt lyrically, illmatic sonically.

    2. i am...(nas), i really didn't like that album, it was a lame compromise between mainstream and hardcore rap.

    3. i'm sure everyone here has pretty much heard every song by them...but for some more likely unknown suggestions: dead presidents 3 (recorded for the black album but scrapped) by jay is dope, and i'm a villain by nas (from his pre-illmatic recordings) is dope as well.

    4. jay will probably retire from rap first, he did it once already.

    5. dead presidents 2, d'evils, never change- jay-z

life's a b*tch, rule, nas is like- nas

    they're both great
