Laminate flooring question?

Hey folks -

We are thinking of putting laminate in our living room and 1 bedroom (about 700 sq ft. for both)

We have looked at home depot/lowes/ikea etc... we know that we want to get it installed (we are not do-it-yourselfers...more power to those of you who are!)

Does anyone have an idea of the cost we would be looking at? Also, are there other places/companies that we should look at (perhaps somewhere online that we don't know about or some whole sale companies.)

Any input would be appreciated:)

Thank you

I had Lowes install my carpet and I was impressed! I got outstanding customer service and the carpet looks perfect. I could not be happier! :) You may pay a little more, but you will get what you ask for.

    Amy,

there's usually no shortage of companies/individuals willing to install laminate, so your task is to figure out who does good work, is reputable, and doesn't over-charge for their services. There are several websites available on the web that can show the average cost of doing such work in your particular area. Just do a search using the key words to describe what you want.

Places like Lowe's and Home Depot will of course give you a quote for their price, and usually have contracts will local companies/individuals to have the labor work performed.

It's fairly easy to price the cost of material. Labor is a bit more puzzling. Just call a couple of companies and get some quotes for the labor costs. Compare prices (including tasks included in the labor) and ask for references (in the case of local companies). Call and see what kind of work they did. Also check to see if there are complaints against them with the better business bureau.

    good luck
