Date for Rapture: May 21, 2011?
Biblical scholar's date for rapture: May 21, 2011
Mark your calendars!
"Harold Camping lets out a hearty chuckle when he considers the people who believe the world will end in 2012
That date has not one stitch of biblical authority," Camping says from the Oakland office where he runs Family Radio, an evangelical station that reaches listeners around the world. "It's like a fairy tale."
The real date for the end of times, he says, is in 2011"
@ Watev: Thank you! I saw the story on Dawkins' site, where there's a link to the whole story

Looks as good as any. ------ What's wrong with 2010? Too early?

This guy has already been incorrect once. If he had lived in Old Testament times, he would have been stoned to death for making an incorrect prophecy. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2...
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
Each new Christian denomination seems to worry about the end of the world a bit too much. Then after a couple of centuries, they realize that there are always wars and rumors of wars, etc.
I won't even mention the hundreds of false predictions of the end of the world over the centuries, all of which were based on individual interpretations of biblical prophecies.
The first century Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

Yeah Harold Camping too. I'm a post tribulation believr. The christ comes after the first part and the mark of the beast and all that is the way I see it. There's not time for that to fit in before their date. Look at Campings' "the end of the church age " and see if you can find anything wrong with the way that he rewrote the dates of the geneologies. I didn't like the quera shem part. Also Jesus pretty clearly said that no body would know the date, not the Holy angels, or Him, but only our Father

It is apparent that these so called Bible scholars do not know their Bibles very well. NO one can set a date for something that does not exist.
As for setting date concerning the Second coming of the Son of God, the Bible states that even the Son of God does not know that date.
Mark 13:32 “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
Also these false teachers are teaching another doctrine that is not in the Bible and that is the doctrine of the Rapture. It appears that they have been reading those FICTIONAL books called ‘left behind’. If you look at this book it even states that it is a fictional book.

When Jesus returns, the earth will be destroyed. (2 Peter 3:10)
I don’t believe the Bible teaches there will be “a rapture” for the following reasons.
1. The word “rapture” is not in the Bible.
2. It is said that the rapture will be a “secret” coming of Christ, but the verses cited as being the ones that primarily talk about “a rapture” say that Christ will come with a loud command, a shout, “the voice of the archangel”, and a trumpet will sound! (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 )
3. Some mention Matthew 24. In this context, 3 questions were asked and answered. The questions in verse 3 are:
“When will these things be?” (“These things” = destruction of temple: verse 2)
What will be the signs of your coming?
What will be the signs… of the end of the age?
4. The answer about the destruction of the temple and the destruction of Jerusalem is included from verse 4 through 36.
It refers to “those days”.
It refers to signs.
Instructs believers to flee to hills.
Says that this will happen in “this generation”.
This was accomplished in 70 AD.
5. The answer to the question about the end of the age (end of time) begins in verse 37.
Instead of “those days” it tells about “that day”.
It says there will be no signs.
No one knows when it will happen.
The righteous shall be rewarded in that day and the evil will be assigned a place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
6. “Rapture” teaches that the righteous will be taken away and the sinful will be “left behind”.
Matthew 24 teaches that some will be taken and others left. It will be “just like the days of Noah” (verse 37).
In the days of Noah, normal life was going on. (verse 38)
Then the flood came and “took them all away”.
The evil were taken away (swept away) by the flood. (Verse 39)
“So shall the coming of the son of man be” (verse 39).
Sudden. Without prior warning.
Jesus shall come and the evil will be told, “Depart from me” (Matt 25:41)
The evil will be taken away and the righteous will be left in the presence of Jesus. (In the place to which Jesus has come.)
“Rapture” has the wrong ones being “taken”.
7. The flood of Noah was not a “secret” or quiet event where the evil did not see it when it happened.
Many people have predicted the rapture at various dates.
The Bible, however, says that if a person predicts something and it does not come to pass, then they have spoken presumptuously, they are a false prophet, and therefore we should not listen to them.
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deut 18:22)
Among those who have predicted the rapture is Hal Lindsey.
He predicted it would happen in 1988. He said the righteous would be taken away by Christ, and the evil would be left behind.
Well 1988 has come and gone, and Hal Lindsey is still with us! This leaves only two possibilities.
Either Hal Lindsey is a false prophet, in which case we should not listen to him!
OR
The rapture happened just like he said, and he was left behind, which by his own teaching, would mean he is not a true follower of God!
Either way, he doesn’t look too good!

human beings anticipate the tip of the worldwide, they believe it. and there's a saying all sturdy issues might desire to come to an end suitable? and quicker or later the planet replaced right into a sturdy place to be. now that each and every person of guy form has almost used all its materials we are almost finished with it. unhappy yet real... so say that the planet is a drink once you finished with it what do you do? And the tip is in all religions, the Mayans believe it quite is the 26/12/2012. the Egyptians believe its in the 12 months 2012 as nicely. it as much as you. yet dont permit all people trick you, 'reason the tip is a tragic element as nicely as a chuffed element, and the majority get worked up approximately it.

Geez, did you people even click on the link? It's not Richard Dawkins making the prediction, it's some guy named Harold Camping.

I do not go by dates but event preceding the coming of the LORD.Read 1 cor 15:51 and 1 thess 4:15-16 Daniel 12:2 John 5:28-29 and Revelation 20:1-5.The church is not raptured out UNTIL the dead in CHRIST rise first, the first resurrection does not take place until AFTER the dead in CHRIST rise first.Revelation 20:1-5 tells us when that will be.

Jesus clearly said when the end times would come in the Bible: within the lifetimes of those he was preaching to.
"Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom." -- Matthew16:28
Sorry, the Rapture is just a myth.

IF the rapture occured on this dat, then it would set a time table in place for Jesus return on or about May 21, 2018.
But Jesus says that NO ONE knows the time of His return -- Not even Jesus himself! (in other words, the exact date has NOT yet been set.)
SInce NO ONE knows that time of Jesus' resutn, this date CANNOT be the correct date.

I heard this before from some familyradio people. I don't really believe it. I mean man can't predict stuff like that. & seriously everyone is on different time zones, so how can it be on a certain date? It can't just like the whole 2012 thing.
