    A few pointers:

    Sentences always start with a capital letter.

    'I' is also capitalised when walking about oneself. For example: "My boyfriend and I went to the park last night" instead of "my boyfriend and i went to the park last night"

    Proper names, such as names of people and places, also begin with capital letters. For example 'Red Square', 'St Howard's School', 'Russia', 'Washington' etc. 'Communism' should also have a capital letter next to it, since it is a specific political movement.

    It's 'whether', not 'wether'!

    This homework will come in useful for later in life, because it will give you practice in arguing an opinion, and help you learn a little bit about the political forces that shape our world.

    To put it simply, Communists believe that the all things should be commonly owned by everybody. In theory, this means that everyone has the same amount of stuff.

    Karl Marx said that all countries would eventually become Communist after the workers, who worked in factories and on farms, and had little money between them, rose up in revolution against the rich people who owned the factories and farms.

    Marx also thought that all decisions should be made democratically.

    Unfortunately some people are greedier than others, and when the workers rose up in Russia, a small number of people took control of the country. Anyone who disagreed with the way they did things would be shot or put in prison. Similar things happened in China and North Korea too. North Korea in particular is very, very strict, and many people there are starving.

    Communism worked out a bit better in Cuba though. Fidel Castro, famous for his love of cigars, took over. Even though you can get into trouble for criticising the government there, people often enjoy a reasonable standard of education and healthcare.

    In most Communist countries, there is only one political party, and the Government runs everything. To stay in charge, many of these governments used secret police to spy on anyone who criticised them. Often they would arrest writers and intellectuals who questioned things. They also did not allow people to enter or leave their countries either, or have marches or protests.

    In Europe and America, people were very worried about Communism taking over the world. This meant that we didn't trade with Communist countries for many years. Eventually their economies collapsed. Russia started to allow people to start their own companies back in the 1980s, and slowly other Communist countries replaced their governments and started to allow people to be free.

    There was really no need for Communist governments to be so strict. A government need not be like that to be Communist.

    The biggest, and most difficult issue with Communism is this: if nobody is allowed to own anything, where's the incentive for working hard?

    Our Capitalist system also has problems. With us a very small number of people are getting very very rich, and there's no obligation to look after the poor or the sick.

    The big problem with both is that neither take into account human nature! Perhaps we need a sort of mixture of both?

    First choose your side and then do the following:

    Do an outline for why you support your position on the subject:

    Paragraph 1: The Introduction

    * Topic Sentence (Main Idea for your paper)

    * Example Sentence #1 (Subtopic)

    * Example Sentence #2 (Subtopic)

    * Example Sentence #3 (Subtopic)

    * Concluding Sentence that repeats the Main Idea

    Example:

    My Dog, Romeo (Communism Is Good or Communism Is Bad)

    (Write a similar paragraph supporting your title about Communism instead of "My Dog") My dog, Romeo, is the best pet anyone could have. He is a beautiful and easy to care for. Playing with him is lots of fun. He always takes care of me. There isn't a better pet anywhere.

    You're a bit late. Communism ended in Russia some years ago.

    But WE don't know if you support Communism in 'Rusiia' (wherever that is? Have you spelt this correctly?) or not!
