What can I do on Boston on business trip next week? Jan 5-7th.?

I'll be at a hotel near the Prudential Center January 5th-8th, and wondering what kinds of things I can do the evenings of 5th-7th? I think the Bruins are playong on the 7th, but are there museums that are open late (I think the art museum is).

Any good restaurants? I can spend a decent amount of money since it's business, and I'd rather avoid the chains like Maggiano's since I have them back home. Heard Top of the Hub is cool - do I need reservations for a weekday in January?

Thanks!!

Update:

Good ideas so far. Unfortunately for htis trip, I'm working 9:00-5:00 so only have free time in the evenings.

Top of the Hub is OK for the view, but the view in winter is usually a bank of low clouds. Don't go for the food. Most places you won't need a reservation on a weeknight in January.

Near the Pru: Brasserie Jo's on Huntington. Summer Shack on Dalton. Sel de la Terre on Boylston. Abe and Louie's (steak) on Boylston. Turner Fisheries on Dartmouth (connected to the Copley Place/Prudential Center). Hammersley's Bistro on Tremont (bit of a walk). Your concierge should have some good suggestions and some discount cards.

The Museum of Fine Arts is open Wednesday and Thursday night, there's a big Egyptian Art exhibit going on. The ICA is open Thursday nights (and it's free then), there's some great exhibits now. When you get to town, look for a copy of Improper Bostonian. (You may have one in your room.) It lists everything going on in town.

Don't forget shopping, particularly if the weather is bad. The Pru is connected to Copley Place by a skyway. You can get to stores from Gucci's to The Gap without going outside.

    Things to do in Boston

Museums, lots of Museums: The MFA (art) Isabella Stuart Gardner (art) ICA (art) The Aquarium, The Science Museum, Harvard and MIT museums, not to mention all the Historical sites; sites along the Freedom Trail, John Adams House

Check listings for concerts, plays and other events

shopping, lots of shopping in Quincy Market, Newbury Street or Harvard Square in Cambridge, also visit the insanely overpriced Copley Place Mall

    Duck tours

Go to the top of the Prudential Tower for a great view, for the observation tower, you do not need a reservation, I don't know for the restaurant

The Four Seasons *aujhourdhui* is a great restaurant! You might also check into what is showing in the theatre district! Happy 2K10!
