I just found mold and ice!! behind where my bed used to be... what is my next step?
Last winter I noticed my room was a bit drafty, so instead of 'bothering' my landlords I put up some styrofoam sheets on the wall behind me bed/headboard. Since it is now -23 degrees outside, my room is very cold. I went to put up some window plastic, moved the styrofoam sheet, and found 3 rather large spots of mold and even more of ice...no wonder it was so cold in there!! I feel like an idiot as to my fix and it's outcome; however, now what? Should I try to clean it up? What about the ice? I have never seen that before!
knowledgecry: you say to start externally... I live in an apartment complex (no apartment igloo...), so??

Call the landlord. His problem, not yours, and move the bed. The outide wall is not insulated well. Take the plastic away. You're making it worse.

Yes ,clean it up right away. You have moisture issue that must be resolved or it will come right back.external repair is where you need to start.Be careful about the mold dust it can make you sick.bleach will help in spray bottle. The foam board acted like a insulation from the heat that's why the ice.The moisture is coming from outside. Fix that .problem solved.Put the foam board outside on the wall.until you can get it fixed normal.
