Do you ever feel like asking and answering questions on global warming is a waste of time?

Has anyone ever learned anything new or changed their opinion about global warming because of something they learned on Yahoo Answers?

I would say that if you think you can easily change people's opinion, you are probably mistaken. If you think you can learn your's and other's viewpoints more so that you are more informed on the issue, then this is valuable. I would certainly welcome a more respectful environment on this section.

    Alright Dana,

I agree that you should not have been suspended, but pretending like all of your answers have been well-researched is both egotistical of you and entirely untrue. It is the same patting yourself on the back, pretending you are the "master of science" that really annoys people. Get over yourself.

You can't help learn about Global Warming if you read the answers in this section. I was fortunate, when I first came to this circus Grizzbr1, Trevor, Dana, Bob, KeithP, Robert, Engineer and others that really knew their stuff answered regularly.

What I have learned on Yahoo Answers has changed my thinking, my life (thanks Sweetie) and even if I don't regularly answer, I always come back and read certain people's posts and questions. I am not saying I always agree with how people behave in this section, it is often appalling and a total madhouse at times. Many of the very best answerers have faded into the ether and I have hated the product for long periods of time, BUT it IS a fantastic place to learn.

All I know is , if I have to see "GOREBOT" or "MANBEARPIG" just one more time, I'll be forced to admit that Science is a fraud. Something about being so insulting of higher intelligence has me reconsidering all scientific endeavors. What else has been shoved down our throats in order to raise taxes and form a "ONE WORLD ORDER"?

Heck, any fool can easily see that the Sun is getting closer as it orbits the Earth.

For the most part, yes. There are a few people on here that occasionally surprise me, though, and it's for those people that it's worthwhile.

In contrast to what another answer says, I'd just like to add that for the most part I've been VERY impressed by the answers I've seen from Dana, and the references he's linked to from his blog. He has obviously been seriously thinking about these issues for some time.

I learn new stuff all the time, and find it useful to have my assumptions challenged as it makes me question them and analyse why i think something is or is not the way it is. It's also interesting to see how the same question can be viewed from two such completely different angles.

It's certainly more enjoyable then listening to the idiots in the local pub drone on!

I've actually become more of a skeptic in the two years since I started participating. I've learned a few new things about the subject, and a lot about the dishonesty of the manbearpig believers.
