Mental Health awareness and fundraising?

Ive decided I want to get more involved with mental health fundraising and awareness in my area, but I dont really know where to start. If anyone knows of any groups that I can get in contact with, I would appreciate it. Im not currently a student, so I cant start a Active Minds chapter. Also, I live about 45 min south of Ft Worth, Texas, if anyone knows of anything going on locally.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) hosts a national walk each year called "Out of the Darkness: The Overnight Walk." The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness about mood disorders and support research around mood disorders and suicide prevention. It's a great event (I've raised funds and walked the past two years) and people from across the country come together to raise awareness. You can find out more at: www.theovernight.org

I don't know about the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, but the AFSP does have a chapter in Central Texas. I'm including the info from their website below.

    AFSP-Central Texas

    P.O. Box 28121

    Austin, TX 78755-8121

    Hope this helps!
