How to get a seat post out?

I have a vintage road bike and the seat post is frozen or something I need to lower the seat to ride it. Anyone have any ideas about lowering it.

What ever you do, do not hammer the seat post down. Put some liquid wrench around the post and let it soak. Use the saddle as leverage and twist it back and forth as you pull up. Once you get it out sand it down and clean out the bike frame. Grease the post before you put it back in, it should insert easily.

First of all since its a vintage road bike take the saddle off and look down the seat post to make sure its not bolted on from the inside. One time I thought I had a tight seat post so I greased it up and twisted it til I broke it. Turns out the seat post had a internal bolt that held it in place like a quill stem. Doing all that stuff was for naught. So either check that first or still failing that take it to a bike shop for a proper demostration.

Check to see if it has a seat post clamp/bolt around where the seat post and the frame meet. If so, loosen the bolt, if it still does not budge, try spraying a little WD40 around where the post and the frame meet and work it out carefully.

Use penetrating oil if the seat post and the frame are neither carbon fiber. Use a soft sludge hammer to knok it loose
